I'm wondering if the jury is out on Amir Khan and the sturdiness of his chin. He's been dropped yet again in a fight ... yeah he has came back to win, but his opposition isn't elite and isn't world class - i'm wondering if he can get away with kissing the canvas against a world class fighter.

    What do you guys think?

think its more a case of **** defence, got hit with a sweet shot right on the jaw,his legs went but he got up after about 3,his jaw ain't glass but it's not far off it!gomez ain't no light puncher and i was more than impressed with khan last night in beating the extremely game gomez who on his day would give anyone a battle.

I don't know if it was Earl, but one of his last opponents had him on ***** street ... in survival mode.

If that was someone like Casamayor, Diaz, or Campbell ... I think they would finish this kid off - Flash knockdown or not

If it's not the jaw, it's a really really shaky defense and not used to getting hit.

A lot of this slick/fast guys don't get tagged enough when growing up and going through the amatuers. That's my theory. They live off slipping punches and keeping guys at bay through the whole start of their boxing life, they aren't in wars, they don't learn how to take a shot.

Jones is a prime example. He was so used to slipping and rolling with shots, that when he took a good flush one, he wasn't ready for the effects.

Put that up against a guy like Andrade or even Arreola who probably fight wars in the gym, take a lot of shots, and keep coming.. they are used to what it feels like to take one off the kisser. Thus it's not a foreign feeling to them.

Khan just needs to let some guys beat the **** out of him in the gym for the next year and learn how to fight while getting tagged a lot.

clearly his chin is not the greatest, and he looks like he would struggle with pressure fighters, but he wasnt in any serious trouble from the knockdown ,and he got up to finish the round and the fight well ,but another negative has to be the class of fighter that is putting him down

he got up at about 1. He was on the ground for less than a second.

He does have a pretty weak chin though.

After the KD i thought Khan won the rest of the round

Jaw and defence are not good, and no inside game

His chin is bad, lets get that straight. You aren't on ***** street against a feather fist like Limond unless somethings up. I don't think he was too badly hurt last night, but yet again he's down. He also did a stupid chicken dance in the amateurs. These are sure signs of a bad chin

That wouldn't be the end of him if his defence was good, but it isn't. No head movement. When he backs up he drops his hands

He doesn't need to step up and get starched.

Too hard to tell, tho i still have fears over his chin and i think he might (i'm making this up now) have issues with making weight which could be a factor. I mean his massive for a lightweight, he said before on ITV before the fight that he had 1.5% bodyfat.
This fight has done nothing to alleviate my fears over his chin, but he did get up pretty quick and seemed unaffected. I think at higher weights his chin will be better.

Sorry, you're wrong. That's how the british commentators hype the fight up to be competitive. Michael Gomez wouldn't belong in the ring with any top 10 rated lightweights in the world, and the same applies even before he was shot. Amir Khan was essentially knocked down by a journeyman last night, and he was also hurt to the body.

Amir Khan doesn't have what it takes to fight at elite level, as things stand.

    Damn ...

Thats what I was wondering, if this **** would carry on when he took that next step up in class.

I think he shouldve choose to get co-trained by Floyd Sr ... I think that addition wouldve helped him alot in his development.

Boxing is a strange sport. You can train you're whole life to become a fast puncher who can last 12 rounds at a ridicliously fast pace. You can have knockout power in both hands, and be the best combination puncher since Joe Louis. None of this counts for anything at elite level if you cannot take a punch or defend yourself. Naz couldn't, and soon as he stepped up to "elite" level, he was embarassingly defeated. I'm not comparing Naz to Amir Khan, Naz could get hit and comeback to win a fight. Amir Khan can do this with a shot Michael Gomez, but not a prime Pacquiao or even an aging Marquez.
