Yup, people shouldnt assume that after this long lay off Floyd will be the same fighter, its not a foregone conclusion imo. Obviously if a good version of pbf turns up then..well we all know the score with that one dont we.
First of all this is an OLD news piece and Khan has stated many times that he believes he is not ready for these fights yet but hopes to be in a few years. The thread started has made Khan look like a ****. But no, this is how the interview should go. Question - Do you want to fight Floyd Mayweather? Khans answer - Oh no. I want to fight a bunch of ****-ant nobodies in my own country and not ever aim for anything higher or try to prove myself in anyway. Question - If the fight did happen, lets say, do you think you could win? Khans answer - Oh HELL NO! I would get the **** kicked out of me, there is no way I would win a single round, its best that I have no confidence in myself or in my abilities to make sure fans like me. So no, I would never be able to beat anybody like Floyd. Haters that hate on a mans goals and confidence... you are ****s, you are ****ing stupid and you should delete your accounts and **** off giving boxing fans a bad name.
Khan has experience. But he hasn't been in with the BEST. Maybe he needs this fight to get a humbling. He sparred Pac now he thinks he's the greatest. We'll see he is tough and game but boy...Even Manny would have a terrible time with FLOYD. But Manny has power that's the equalizer.
No! He does NOT think he is the greatest! Have you ever listened to him in an interview? He does not think he is the greatest at all, but he is trying to prove that he wants to be...
Floyd has not been in a live fight since beating Hatton, people can say what they want, Khan would be a big under dog in the fight, but never rule him out, in a boxing chess match Khan can upset ANYONE'S timing, When them lighting speed punches come at you then we will see what happens. Anyone can get beat.
stylistically khan can beat mayweather, he is also younger and faster, problem is that he is open and lacks defense, floyd is also way more talented. Last year I said if khan can improve and reach his prime while floyd gets older and past prime khan will beat him. If khan can step his game up this year and improve then he can beat floyd mayweather.
No. Khan's workrate and volume would not win him rounds, because these things only win rounds if they are done intelligently. Khan cannot do them intelligently enough to trouble someone as rounded and complete as Mayweather. When Khan comes forward to throw punches and open up, he'll get picked off and hurt. Floyd will control him with ease, win every round, and knock him out late on. Amir Khan is not Jose Luis Castillo, he will not be able to pressure Mayweather or unload on him while staying compact enough to avoid eating punches.
I think its all about mindset, vs Paulie Khan had a tight defence because he was not on the backfoot like the Maidana fight, a fight where Maidana was willing to walk forwards take punches to land his shots, thats why Khan jab was not effective because fighters with Maidana mindset dont care about getting hit and Khan was found wanting at times going back and getting caught, but fighters like Paulie/Mayweather do and a good jab which Khan has can stop them in their tracks at times. Mayweather is no headhunter so this would be a pure boxing match, Khan is at his best when this is the case. Khan will press Floyd will back off and try to counter , Roach will try and set a plan of move in out fast with speed, some will miss some will land, try to pin him on ropes ODH style, Khan has a high output and this simple plan could work due to Khan's speed and win him rounds. Floyd could be too busy trying to miss shots then get his own off, the key is not to give Floyd time to set up traps and clock his hooking counters which can really hurt, also his straight right which he makes a fool out of fighters with.
Keep hearing about the speed of punch khan possesses. I have to agree his is quicker than mayweather.. Speed kills yes but it has to be coupled with accuracy and more importantly, good footwork. Khan footwork is terrible. He often over extends and is regularly off balance. So I ask myself, can he beat Floyd - no way, he may have speed but has doesn't have the other attributes in order to make the speed pay. Floyd would have a field day with all the mistakes khan makes. And for the record I think khan would get knocked out/ beaten up bad if he fought floyd or pac.. Look at his footwark in the mccloskey fight folks and tell me what you see..
