Not really. The **** about him being protected was before the Prescott fight, right? Well, let's remember, he was only in his 17th fight, and was 21 years old?

It was blown up way more than it should have been. When you look at Joe Calz and Hatton, who did they face in their careers in the early going?

People expect everything to be fast-tracked. Even with DeGale. People were saying he's **** and will never be world level. Well let's ****ing remember, he's only had 11 fights. Who does that nowadays?

We expect way more than we should.

 

Hatton had good power, Khan doesnt.....Only speed, not enough to beat Floyd.

 

Khan’s basic skill set hasn’t really improved since he went pro. He’s more disciplined in how he uses it, but he makes an awful lot of the same mistakes. Roach has got him working the jab consistently and keeping him patient even when he’s not having immediate success. That’s good and would bode well for facing Mayweather.

But, and it’s a big but, he still pulls his feet in as he punches in combination and he still holds his chin up in the air. He’s very fast of hand and foot, but he doesn’t really move his body around too much.

So, what you have to consider then is whether Mayweather can take advantage of those gaps and deal with the strengths?

Khan’s speed – well Floyd is calm under pressure, and although he prefers not to trade, he will do so if it’s his best opportunity (as he did with Zab in the first six rounds of their fight).

Khan’s jab – this will give Floyd the most trouble since he prefers to counter. But he’s masterful at ad******g his position very subtly – he either dips to the right and shoots his own right or takes a slight step to the right and jabs. When he feels more confident he brings the left hook, up and down, into the equation. He will eventually take it away from Khan though.

I do think Khan can take rounds off of Mayweather here and there. But I doubt he’ll be able to do much damage or control the range for very long.

All we can know for sure is that Amir will do better than Victor.

 

They're both very winnable fights for Khan which will see him make a big impression at 147 imo.

I've said before, Khan vs Berto is Calzaghe vs Lacy all over again. Berto has a punchers chance, but gasses to easily so wont be able to chase Khan for 12 rounds and hope to catch him "bang on the chin".

And Khan vs Ortiz will see Khan peppering Ortiz with flurries and he eventually quits late on.

 

Id favour Khan to beat both these dudes ....

 

Thanks for a considered and thought out response, I can't really argue with any of your points to be honest. I think Khan's lunging in will be his downfall and why I'd favour Mayweather to take UD, definitely he'd have a better chance than Ortiz no doubt, Khan has a lot more heart and wouldn't lose his mind and start butting (intentionally) I still think Khan has a chance though and have a sneaky feeling that Khan will shock the world.. 75-25 in favour of Floyd

 

Hatton never really had the power to hurt Mayweather, so Khan's speed would be more relevant here.... Luckily Mayweather isn't a banger which always bolds well for Khan, so I can definitely see Khan having a much better chance then Hatton, Khan has way more boxing ability than Hatton ever had.

 

Cos Ricky never had the speed to catch him, Khan has but he wont Floyds too clever way too clever too get caught by Khan, and if he did by chance hit him it wouldnt do **** all.........your kidding yourself if you think Khan would look anything but an amateur vs Floyd.

And its bodes well not bolds :-(

Yeah he did, did it do anything????...NO....Neither would any sort of shot from Khan, hes got no power to trouble Floyd.

 

Floyd has holes to, and speed can expose them holes just like Zab done before he gased out after 4 or 5 rounds, Khan won't gas out like that.

Khan can get off first and has the handspeed to beat Floyd to the punch.

Floyd don't counter when you throw punches in bunches, he counters you after single shots.

Khan would have a gameplan to work off the jab and not over reach, I think Khan's speed will shock Floyd, he won't like it in there, he is now too used to fighting slower fighters.

 

Speed is a wonderful thing vs it, can make you age over night.
