Khan facing possible law suit

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by HMSTempleGarden, Jan 21, 2012.

  1. There's a definite case for defamation here.

All he wants I think is an apology, which would make the Khan's look even more twattish than they already do, or would do in the event of a lawsuit.

    Priceless :rofl

Ameen came across really well, seems to think all the evidence will point to no wrong doing.

Probably because there's no evidence of wrong-doing. Give it a few minutes, Icemax will be in to bleat about how sitting at the same table with a piece of paper is "grounds for suspicion".

Ameen claims that there is video that will prove no wrong doing.

From a legal perspective he will not get very far suing Khan and Roach

Not Roach, but the clear suggestion from Khan and GBP was that Ameen interfered with the scorecards.

Sorry, I wasn't disagreeing with you, just saying that since there's no evidence of wrong-doing, he doesn't have to prove anything. Khan and GBP would have to provide evidence that there was.

But any legal case can be merely disputed on the basis of a technicality. As strange as it sounds Khans team did imply that Ameen cheated but what they technically said was "what was he doing there?" "why was he there?" "why was he touching the scorecard?" "did he interfere?" "we want answers" etc.

The fact that the footage is where these questions initiated from and also the fact that regardless of what Ameen was doing he really was not supposed to be there as it seems he just pulled up a seat and sat there will make it fairly easy for any solicitor/barrister to clearly dispute and negate Ameen's claims.

Just asked my sister who is a solicitor; reckons Ameen has a case (my brother-in-law has been bleating on about this in the news so he had some idea about it) so maybe not as cut-and-dry as you think.

By all means he has a case but not a really a "winnable case".

Cases of civil litigation are usually who's story is more likely to be true. if Khan blatantly said "Ameen cheated" then he is snookered. However if it is was questions raised then the reason for this is due to the footage shown on fight night. So in effect Khan has evidence of this. Would love to elaborate but so much **** was said I can't even remember if Khan/Team Khan had said directly that Ameen cheated or tampered with the scorecards. But i certainly remember hearing it in a question form such as "was he tampering". I think the British media are going to be held more accountable than Khan.

Cases of Liable and Slander need to heard at the High Court anyway. Ameen would have to prove that substantial damage was caused as a direct result of the liable/slander.

By all means he can try and the unexpected can happen in Litigation however I think Khan's legal team will be well prepared.
