Freddie Roach ‏@FreddieRoach part of life when exchanging on inside RE @MrEMann72: defense on the inside would help ur fighters? can't rely just on their chins forever! if u have the balls to throw punches on inside then u will get hit back
if you notice, Amir has gained a bit more of muscle, most notably in his back and shoulders. Freddie said he is hitting alot harder now [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80qO-8jgDuY&[/ame] 'Absolutely, and he will never improve because Roach can't teach him ****. Roach can't teach footwork, he can't teach counter-punching, he can't teach how to fight going backwards, and he can't teach defense. All he can teach are combos that he hopes will stop the opponent. That is why if you get his fighters past 4 or 5 rounds, they're in trouble. All that being said, I think that Khan will beat Garcia. I'll be rooting for Garcia though.' ^^ This YT user say's the truth.
I agree with this comment. Roach hasn't been training Khan properly for the last few years now, and I've been hoping against hope that Khan would release himself from the Wild Card gym and get with someone who can help him realize his full potenial. His is too fast and has too much fighting spirit not to be a better fighter. To me, he needs Emmanuel Steward. Why? Because Manny has worked with fighters like him improve his game. Hitman Hearns before Steward was alot like Khan, he was ultra fast, threw great combo's but was said to not hit hard enough... Manny turned Hearns into the Hitman. Now, I'm not going as far as to say Hearns and Khan are exactly alike. But their stature and physical qualities in are comparable. Manny has molded a fighter like Khan in the past to be great, and that was several decades ago. Manny is maturer now as a coach, I think he could take a fighter like Khan along way if Khan would just leave Roach. Khan will never be an Elite fighter with Roach, he needs Manny or he needs someone else with more experience training 'boxers'.
To be honest I see no real speed difference between now and the Judah camp video (that Rico posted). Khan's puches still look sharp and fast as hell. If anything he seems to be throwing less combos, instead focusing on 3 or 4 hard shots as opposed to 5,6 punch flurries.
The clock is ticking! This content is protected Hey, Fight week is drawing closer and closer and I’m beginning to get into that fight zone frame of mind. It’s going to be a 16 week camp by the time I enter the ring and I’m feeling really good. I’m relaxed and know what I need to do to bring those belts back to Britain! There are going to be two world titles on the line, the WBC belt and the WBA one. I was really pleased when I heard that both belts were going to be up for grabs and I would like to thank the WBA for reviewing everything and putting the belt up for grabs. I want to win back the world titles in the ring, the way it should be done. Danny Garcia is a young fighter and is hungry for this so I’m not overlooking or underestimating him. There’s been a lot that has come out from his camp over the past few days but I’m not letting it affect me and I’m just getting on with my job. My business is in the boxing ring, that’s where I will be doing my talking. Everything that has been said I’m just using it as motivation and it’s made me even more determined to make sure it’s my hand that is raised at the end of the night. I’m keeping busy with training and this is the last week real week of intense training before we start to cool it down. I sparred on Monday and have one last sparring session coming up later this week. Freddie is really pleased the way sparring has gone and even I’m a bit surprised by the power in my shots because I know I have the ability to hurt Garcia. Away from training it’s also been quite busy. I was invited to the new Spiderman movie, 'The Amazing Spider-Man', at Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles. It was a really good movie and I enjoyed taking a bit of time out to catch a film because it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to do that! It’s important to take a bit of time to relax away from training, so any time off I’ve been taking advantage of it. I was also invited to the LA Dodgers-New York Mets game last Sunday and was asked to throw the first pitch. It was a real honour to do that because I know how much of a privilege it is to be asked. I wasn’t really a big baseball fan beforehand but I’m definitely going to try and catch some more games when I can, it was a great experience. You can see me throwing the first pitch in the video section of my website. I’ve bumped into a few famous faces from back home over the last few days. I met Wayne Rooney and Ashley Cole as they’re on holiday here in LA. We talked a bit about the Euros and they were obviously disappointed but I’m sure our time will come soon and we’ll learn from it. I’m hoping to bring some smiles back to British faces when I’m crowned world champion of the 140lb division again! I’ve got a few media commitments this week and have just done my workout for all the press at the Wildcard. You can check out some of the pictures from this below. My brother Haroon flew out to LA this week and the rest of my team will start arriving over the coming week. We head out to Las Vegas this weekend. I’m completely focused on the job at hand and taking care of Danny Garcia. Freddie and I have spent the last few weeks looking at certain habits of Garcia and I know what areas to exploit. For this camp, because it’s been so long, I’ve worked on things that I’ve wanted to work on for a while and on July 14th I’ll show exactly what I mean. All the best AK Tickets for Khan-Garcia on July 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas can be bought from www.sportscorporation.com or by calling 0845 163 0845. US fight fans please visit www.ticketmaster.com . The fight will also be screened live on Sky Sports 1 in the UK and on HBO Sports in the US. Ellie's video wasn't that good. His speed is still there; seconds out and fight hub vids showed that. He's preserving his shots and throwing them at the right times. His hooks always seemed abit weird to me; i wonder why?
he looks in damn top shape. It's just when it comes to fight night and as the 1st bell rings my expectation simmers..He does get caught plenty and fights like its his last, not for the good.
i'm from the States and i like Khan. Hard worker, good hand speed, good power and has learned alot given his relatively young age. Most importantly, he's hungry and still seeks respect. Not a championship belt, but acknowledgement of his quality. "Not revenge, but a reckoning" as we say ^^ Another sensible YT comment. This content is protected
People who are commenting on roach bieng bad at 'teaching' don't know **** and have probaly never boxed before. Khan from 8 years old over the past 15+ years has crafted his own style... You can't make big changes to it and you can't try to make him change his style why do you think roach always says "once you get hit you go back to your old ways" The way a guy boxes is very much instinctual once they are set in their ways. - His hooks look wierd because he throws them from range (they still are decent check Judah's & Petersons face out) He is a rangy fighter. In and out. Fast and has decent power. Tries to stay from inside fighting. Sticks to what he knows best and Freddie trys to help him with that. Help him with angles. Understanding how to counter with his style. Timings etc etc Don't expect Roach to be able to overhaul an olympic and world champion boxers footwork which is fundemental and they have learn't from day 1.
