    ^^

I think Freddie wants Khan to stay at 140lb. I agree.

I want to see Khan try and unify the 140lbs division. It would be a great achievement at this point in his career.

Khan is going to 147 late 2012 no doubt...

If Mayweather is hungry for a fight there is a 75percent chance Khan will get it

A really interesting match up and Floyd may mistake it for light work...

Or Bradley will get it (If he accepts less than 1mill)

Khan has been having to pay people off to fight him lately lmao. Garcia is getting like 800-1mill isn't he?

Marquez will be holding onto his WBO belt & Khan doesn't care about the IBF anymore (quite rightly)

Exactly. People simply don't understand that a fighter's style, at heart, is their identity, and for some reason can't see all the positive work Roach has been doing.

How can you say Roach doesn't teach counter-punching when he has Manny throw counter-right hooks, counter straight lefts, counter uppercuts, etc,? One of Khan's favorite tricks is a jab-pull-1-2. That takes timing and the ability to anticipate & react to an opponent's punches.

How can you say Roach doesn't teach footwork and defense? Manny, Amir, and Julio have all improved their guards to suit their style significantly since they hooked up with roach. Khan's gloves are high and held outward to parry, Manny's are high as well to use the forearms to block, and Chavez's protect the chin and body while allowing him visibility as he advances to get to the inside. Khan's first and most important defensive asset is his control of distance, and his lateral movement. It has only been penetrated in a handful of rounds by two savvy pressure-fighters. If Roach were so useless and Khan so bad, he would have already been figured out by competent boxers like Judah, Kotelnik, and Paulie.

Why are all of them suckers for uppercuts then? Fundamental flaws are what people are talking about.

Chavez's defense it pretty terrible for a world class fighter, but he has a fantastic chin. So the rudimentary defense that seems to be the Wild Card gyms specialty is "enough". Almost similar with Pacquiao, above all else, the man can take a punch but also moves his body constantly to make a smaller and less stationary target. So when he does shell up and eat punches, it's at least not a constant.

Khan doesn't have the luxury of a granite chin or constant upper-body movement. Khan fights on a swivel, his torso one part, his legs the other. The smoothness of his technique is lacking and at this point of his career, it has to be put on his coaching.

    I don't agree that he can't counter-punch, that's a silly statement. But Roach's style of defense is ****.

Roach has admitted several times that he focusses more on offense than defense. He himself wasn't that much of a defensive fighter.

That said, he has worked on alot of Khan's flaws. They had a long camp so could work on his flaws. This becomes evident in the workout vids posted today.

If he wins this fight against Garcia then he will have unified the titles twice like Timid Timmy @140lb.

I'm not arguing at all that his fighters aren't flawed. Roach does not seem to know how, or focus on, inside fighting. Therefore, parrying and avoiding uppercuts are simply not in their arsenal. They are rudimentary flaws, yes, but that does not mean those flaws invalidate the stylistic strengths. If only a handful of fighters have been able to really exploit Roach's fighters flaws (particularly those with stylistic advantages on their side), how can the defense be "****"? Flawed doesn't equal "****". **** defense is knocked out or embarassed by a bum; **** footwork is giving up your height at every turn and crossing your feet; that's all I'm saying. I have no problems with critique, only hyperbole.

Aside from his supposedly over-involved father? Not that I'd heard of. It's possible though, anybody know?

I wanted to see Garcia stretched and hear from his father in the post-fight but I think it's going all the way with a clear UD to Khan.

I think so too. Garcia stood up to Holt's shots pretty well and Khan isn't really a massive hitter. Although I can see a mercy stoppage by the Ref (ala Malignaggi), if he leaves himself open and Khan keeps landing bombs on him.

I suppose it's relative for you then, but even so, I'd have to call **** an exaggeration.
