Khan was ranked #1 before the Petersen debacle, due to Bradley A) ducking Khan for whatever reason, B) better form than Bradley at 140 in recent times.

Considering Bradley moved up and the petersen thing was exposed as a farce I have no problem with khan being reinstated to number one, haters be haters, that is how he should be ranked.

As for Garcia, he's unbeaten, he beat Morales who was a belt holder, some other decent wins too.

You could argue for Matthyse being number 2 but it would be an argument, Matthyse has recent losses, he went life and death with an utterly shot Zab Judah in a fight that could have gone either way, sure he looked great against Soto, who's a super featherweight..... Who else has he beat, oh yeah, Vivian Harris, awesome.

Even if I give you Matthyse at number 2, Garcia shouldn't be lower than 3 anyways which is good enough to fight for the Ring sometimes.

The only people crying about this are going to be Khan haters, lets be HONEST.

It's as Legit as Wlad vs Chagaev being for the ring belt when Chagaev was pretty average in all honesty.

They relaxed their rules fairly recently so more matches involving top 5 guys could crown a new champion. They're using more of their own discretion I think. Sadly top 2 guys just weren't fighting each other so new champions weren't being crowned. If Bradleys a welterweight now and Petersens a cheater then it's a fair enough fight for the ring belt.

Like the man said, Ring have changed their policy just recently, indictment on the sport really, the tops guys just weren't fighting each other and the belts were remaining vacant

I didn't realise they had done this. Devalues the belt IMO.

No surprise considering the ones and twos weren't fighting each other.

Well I can't argue too much. Bradley was 1 & moved up, Peterson was 2 after winning the WBA/IBF world titles and has since been found to be a drugs cheat. Khan should be 3 as that defeat to Peterson has a shadow over it & whatever you think of Garcia, he is a world champion so will be ranked top 5. So you could argue these are the top 2 in the division at the moment.

As well meaning as it is, most fans and a lot of fighters just don't give a toss about the Ring belt. It's pushed as "the real world championship" by a few people on the internet and everybody else mostly doesn't care.

One other factor, Khan who AS states was previously ranked number one before the fraudulant Petersen loss has been in the ring top 10 for 151 weeks.

The second longest in the top 10 is Judah at 66 weeks.

    Khan has earned this shot.
