Saw an article on the Eastern Daily Press website in which Thaxton is said to be desperate to face Khan but admits he is totally in the dark over who Khan's next opponent is.

If this is the case its unlikely to be Thaxton in February.

So, do you expect Thaxton not to be able to land on his chin with anything decent at all, because Khan's fast and his defence will have improved, or is Khan's chin no problem, or is Thaxton's power overrated or what?

Purse bids are due in on jan 12th, so it wont be thaxton on feb 2nd.

Purse bids are for the British Title.

Thaxton is already the mandatory for Khan's Commonwealth Title so perhaps a scenario where the fight could be made for that in Feb.

Thaxton could put Brit Title on the line as well and winner takes all.

It does seen unlikely Khan will be facing Thaxton on Feb 2nd but the purse bids issue doesn't prevent it in my view.

Decebel.....I guess we will find out soon enough if the fight is happening or not. I think you are being rather brave with your prediction, considering how much noise has been made on this fight already

I was very happy when Earl got a shot; I will be very happy when Thaxton gets a shot; but if Thaxton is anything close to being as shot as Earl, I will decry the choice of opponent, after the fight.

Doesnt prevent it, but makes it unlikely as I know hennessy wants to put the fight on in Nowrich, and understandably Warren also wants the fight. Khans next fight (feb 2nd) will be in the excel arena London, a tad pre emtive of Mr Warren to assume he'll have the fight without question.
Id've thought his Brit title fight would be in Bolton?

Much as I've already said its unlikely there is nothing to stop Warren making Thaxton an offer he can't refuse to gain control of the situation if Khan's camp really want this fight to happen.

Earl is better than Thaxton. Amir is becoming a good trash talker I like that.

Please explain how Earl is better than Thaxton.

He has a better resume, but I'd say if they'dve thought 6 weeks ago Thaxton would've beat Earl. It would've gone a lot longer than 75 seconds though.

Elle - I agree, Mr Warren can make Mick hennessy an offer he cant refuse to gain control of the fight, but if thats the case I dont see why hennessy is making noises about the fight being in Nowrich??! Thaxtons retirement fund, isnt it ?

If Hennesy won the purse bid for this I would choke on my Wheetos!

I haven't looked in detail at their resumes but I agree that seeing Earl against Khan you'd have to favour Thaxton to beat Earl also.

Haven't seen anything from Hennessy making noises about Khan v Thaxton in Norwich - if anyone has a link please post it thanks.

As for Thaxtons retirement fund - he has given a lot to the sport and at this stage of his career I can understand why he is looking to secure the best paying fights.

Every boxer is looking to secure the best paying fights, sometimes they'll take less to make more in the long run (Judah taking £50,000 for unification fight for example). In no way would I deny Thaxton that, he deserves it for the excitment of the Hatton fight alone. One wonders if Jono would've gone further and done better had he not suffered career threatening injuries. Amazing he's at lightweight, especially at this stage of his career.
