I don't just don't buy this thing abt Thaxton giving Khan a real fight. I just think he needs a real test, and Thaxton just won't provide that, IMO. I did say before the Earl fight that i thot Earl was on paper the tougher fight but i guess Jon (or most fighters) could have lasted longer in there. Taking nothing away from Khan cos he showed that he has improved.

I know that a lot of people want to see the British title on the line with the champ and the guy who is currently rated as the biggest talent on these shores but it just won't be a real test for the kid.

Altho i can respect ppl's opinions that that they believe Thax is a strong fighter who deserves Khan's attention, but IMO, Khan will have him out by the sixth or seventh. Then again some ppl did fancy Earl to beat him... :patsch (put that down to wishful thinking, i guess)

I just think that Khan will come out with a win with ppl then saying that Jon wasn't either ready for the fight cos he was only given a month to prep or that he was over the hill anyway. :verysad

amir is a no win situation to be honest, if he takes out thaxton in a few rounds, people will say thaxton was over the hill, and if he struggles to beat him he will get knit picked over stupid things.

look at david haye, the man got ko early on in his career and knowone is talking about him being average and the cruesier weight being a **** division, i just get a feeling people dont like amir coz of his roots coz talent wise there aint a better boxer,

id go as far as saying that hatton is chinny as PBF was supposed to be light puncher but hatton got sparked out,

PBF isn't a huge puncher. It took quite a number of shots for him to grind Rick down.

lets be honest mate Pbf gave the like of Juddah, Baldomir the same treatment and they didnt get ko the way hatton did, as Juddah has a poor chin and didnt go down while hatton did take the same type pf shots as juddah and blown away but then again hatton will not be called chinny despite being knocked down early in his career againt magee

Those huge punches that he walked through from Tszyu must have left him vulnerable to such a "light" hitter as PBF.

it does not matter the fact is he got kod by a so called " light puncher " in PBF, even hatton himself admited that he had been hit harder before but his chin gave way at the end.

look its the same for amir he hasnt been hit on the chin by limmond it was on the side of the head and i dont care what people say anyone gets hit on the side of the head they will get be dazed for a few seconds as amir was, light puncher or not he off balance like hatton was for the first knock down against PBF

What we gotta remember is the kind of shot Hatton was hit with -- a check hook. When a fighter gets hit like this, it's power is increased by the fact that he is aggressively lunging forward as the punch connects.

Please search out the video for Fullmer Vs Robinson.

It's a hard technique to pull off. Floyd tried it a few times before he was successful, as it involves precise timing, tricky footwork, and a punch that is basically like a cross between a hook and an uppercut. Pulling this shot off against an already worn-down fighter is gonna spark him out. Factor in Ricky's collision with the turnbuckle, too.

No wonder he went down. I'm surprised he didn't pass out completely. Rick is a hard ****er, and Floyd is semi-lucky to have done it, IMO. Can't take nothing away from Floyd, though -- the check hook is the perfect shot for Ricky Hatton.

my point is that both amir and hatton were not in the greatest postions while being dropped as amir got hit on the temple and was off balance anyway he was bound go down and be dazed and hatton like u said was lunging forward and got dropped and was hurt by it even more by him lunging forward,

so basically u can call amir chinny when he was off balance and hit on the temple and then u can say that hatton is not chinny when they and say he was lunging forward which led to him to getting hit harder and being dropped.

so who is chinny then mate ?

I never said anyone was "chinny". I don't even like that word, it's ugly.

i still dont get why people thinking Amir is over rated, he going great guns if u compare to some1 like Mitchell who if u belive people on here is the next big thing but who has he thought after 22 fights?

its just the constant knitt picking that gets on my nerved on here and only really happens when Khan fights

I don't really rate Mitchell, and for some reason he gets on my nerves. I like Khan better. He definitely shows a lot of promise and I wish him all the best.

It's not a matter of him being over-rated, it's a matter of Amir proving himself on the world stage against major opponents, which he hasn't done yet.

Ricky Hatton was fighting Floyd Mayweather Junior, Amir Khan was fighting Willie Limond. You can't point at what happened to Ricky Hatton and use it to play down what happened to Amir Khan.
Willy Limond is a decent enough fighter, but you must surely realise the difference between him and PBF?

    It's all about levels.

come on he has only had 15 fights, people want him to clear the domestice division up first then people say he has to fight someone world class, theres no winning for him

u have to give him time and with experience he should deliver as the likesof Santa cruz who was said to be force in the light weight division looked very poor against a Casamyor who himself looked **** after a long lay off and i could see amir taking them both on and winning

Amir WAS still at the early stage of his career when he met Limmond, while hatton got shown up and made to look like a joke after the talk before the fight.

You're getting me wrong. All I am saying is it's too early to tell how great Khan actually is. That's all. ;)
