He wants Roach to make him priority over Manny Paquiao http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/bo...f-Powell-boxing-column.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
Can't see that happening to be fair. I know it's not going to happen but I've often wondered what someone like Rob Mccracken could do with someone like Khan. He understands amateur boxing very well and has been tactically superb with Froch
Roach probably makes about 5 mil a year from pac and about 800 grand from **** so theres no contest really.
Khan's comments suggest he no longer fits with the style of Freddie Roach, and he is looking to leave him. He want's to live his own life now without the advice of the hangers on. Roach he respects but he also might be thinking of getting a new trainer. Khan quotes: "Not yet … I need someone who's with me all the way through. Like Ruben [Tabares, his new conditioner]. Ruben's with me throughout the whole camp, no travelling. Some times a bit of travelling here and there can affect you. "I'm at the stage now where I can't afford to make any more mistakes. I need to do things that are going to benefit me rather than thinking about other people – which I've been doing all my life. I'm not going to do that no more. I need to act like more of a man now and do things that are right for me. It's me who gets in the ring and takes the punches. I do a lot of things for others, so …" "But these are the things you have to do, when you want to be around the best, with a trainer such as Freddie. And that's something I'm going to have to look into. I'm the main priority and I think I should start thinking about myself, really. Maybe it's the best time to sort things out now and plan ahead so we never to have look at these things again, a whole new attitude. "I'm sure Freddie will understand. He's also been a fighter. He also understands a lot of travelling, here, there and everywhere [is hard]. I'd rather stay in one place and train, like I used to do. I love training in LA, the sparring and everything. Maybe I could come back to the UK and fight in front of the home fans, get to see the family, not spend too much time away from home."
