Deary me, folks still going on like the fight was a gift for peterson when if you take away all the bull**** it was just a close fight that either fighter could have won. Khan performance on the night definitely deserved a re-match, however his behaviour since left me feeling he deserves ****. Believing amir will easily beat peterson in a potential re-match is a bit naive in that regardless of the result of the first fight Khan really struggled and looked well out of his comfort zone as soon as lamont adjusted his style. I don't think amir hits hard enough to stop lamont and whilst he is the faster more dazzling fighter he just doesn't have the other skills necessary keep lamont off of him. For me lamont has a massive advantage in that he is the better all-round boxer with a very clever approach to his game plan. He is bigger than khan, more durable and doesn't panic. On the other hand, amir looses the plot when he is tagged and his ring generalship is nigh on awful.
this needed an immediate rematch period I think everybody knows I think the best fighters are Americans especially a ceratin type of american. But this was a very close fight with a few bulls hit decisions made in it. Fight again and see the outcome
great news!! it was a contender for FOY. Ill go for Khan this time, it was a close fight last time and without the 2 point deduction Khan had it by 3 IMO. Khan wont be overlooking Peterson at all this time and will train like a challenger and will no doubt listen to Freddie and keep outside and come in with fast flurries just like he did in round 1. He made it hard for himself by wanting to show the crowd and fans at home that he can trade if he wants but he needs to be smart and stick to the gameplan khan 8 rounds Lamont 4
It is good news if the fight goes through.. Amir made it hard for himself by trading with lamont? Whilst i think an element of this maybe true I still feel it was lamonts change of tactic that forced khan into a fight he was to stuggle with. Not enough credit is given to lamont for the pressure he created that imo forced khan to loose the plot.
i agree, dont get me wrong, i think Lamont did everything right and it was a close fight draw or 1 round to Khan was about right IMO The rematch can only be seen as a good thing and totally the right decision money wise and for the fans cant wait :good
I don't know about how you guys view fights or what you look for...but there are some fights where winner or loser is of no real importance to me. Khan vs Peterson and Pac vs JMM 3 were fights that i simply wanted to see how good Pac and Khan really are. I wanted to see how Pac looks versus a fighter with elite level Boxing skill and ability. And he failed my "eye test" versus a 38 year old bloated lightweight. And Khan just looked GOD AWFUL. I will be the first to admit that the Ref was even more Awful...but Khan was gassed after 6 rounds, ran for the last half of the fight has no real ability and skill....his only real asset is Speed (kinda' sounds like his Pinoy buddy). So who were the winner in thoses fights...not of any real importance to me. Both (Pac and Khan) showed me that they are MASSIVELY OVERRATED.
