Boxed 2 rounds according to box scene This is a photo posted on Kurt's favourite forum : This content is protected
here is the copy and paste of the box scene article Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao, slowly stepping up his relentless preparation for the “Dream Match” against Oscar De La Hoya at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6, has sparred with British lightweight hope Amir Khan (18-1, 14 KO’s) and junior middleweight Rashad Holloway (9-1, 5 KO’s). Conditioning guru Alex Ariza, in an overseas telephone conversation with insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports, said Pacquiao went two rounds with Khan and four rounds against Holloway and clearly benefited from the session at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach. Ariza said Pacquiao “did very well” with Holloway who is 5’10 and approximates the style of De La Hoya which is what Roach really likes and said Pacquiao is adjusting well to Holloway’s height. Ariza revealed that Pacquiao “took a while to adjust to the speed of Khan but it was a lot different from Holloway because Khan is a lot faster than Holloway so it’s a good match.” He said it was a good mix of facing a big guy and then going up against someone with great hand speed such as Khan who is almost 6 feet tall. Ariza who was credited with getting Pacquiao into tremendous condition for his WBC lightweight title fight against David Diaz in terms of his weight and how he carried the extra poundage and went on to demolish Diaz in nine rounds said Pacquiao “is doing really well .” The conditioning coach confirmed that Roach was upset the other day when somebody, apparently in the Pacquiao entourage, brought in people while Pacquiao was training. Ariza pointed out “people know that the gym is closed and yet they still continue to show up. We understand that there are fans, or friends or family members but the truth of the matter is, there’s a sign that says the gym is closed.” Despite the seeming occasional distractions Ariza said “I am very happy with this job. More importantly Manny is maintaining his weight and that right now is my biggest concern. According to Freddie he (Pacquiao) has great footwork, great speed and a much bigger puncher so if I can just hold the weight and not lose it,” the public will be treated to a great fight. He said that Pacquiao weighs a 152 pounds right now and would want him to come in around 147 at fight time which is what Roach also told us he’d like to see.
The Amir **** Suckers Hangout aka Amirfans is not my favourite forum since they banned my user ID along with several others made by the good users of this forum. Even worse was the racism against JT's user ID because his avatar was that of a Sikh chap. Amir looks **** scared in that picture. I hope Reebok have given him a large supply of clean underwear. Who else is with Amir in the USA ? Is his dad holding his hand ?
Khan does look scared in that picture. Looks like he has shifted the head guard up his face a bit aswell. Can't wait to see the video
Amir look very impressive in their first session and seems very happy with his new coach Freddie Roach
2 rounds is that it? Are they going to do more? Or do they really fly in someone from half way around the world to spar for 6 minutes?
To all the people saying that Khan looks scared: Wouldn't you be bloody scared if you saw Pacman throwing punches at you in the ring? I'd be freaking running. Khan isn't even world level and he's facing a guy that beat the **** out of Morales and Barrera. I'd be worried if he wasn't scared. That said, it looks like he's about to get completely flattened in that pic. I really hope a video of this surfaces somewhere. Would definitely be enjoyable to see Khan and Pacman sparring.
I suppose this is one of the really good points of spending so much money on someone like Roach. When you buy a good trainer, you buy a good stable and sparring with Pac is priceless experience. Pac spars like a nutter. The intensity and skill that Pac will show Khan will be something he has never seen before.
I would imagine being asked to work as a sparring partner brought him down a peg or twelve...... It will actually force him to work on defence - rather than running straight in with the chin up in the air.
Yes they will, it was only first session. More session will come. Pac has been used to sparring with legit 154 lbers who are relatively slower than Khan..naturally he would have to adjust if hes to keep up with the speed of a natural lightweight like khan, who is really fast so to speak. this is where Khan would help Manny keep his speed and agility.. and khan learning from him.
