American trainer Freddie Roach, who oversees both Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, has compared the two fighters - insisting that Khan is faster than Pacquiao, and has greater handspeed. "Amir is a great athlete - his ability to pick up and learn quickly is what really sets him apart," Roach told a select group of boxing writers in the UK on Wednesday. "He's very eager to improve - I had him in front of Pacquiao in the gym for his physical and mental confidence and he needs to be thinking of being on the same level as Manny one day if he wants to achieve his career goals." "He holds his own with Manny in sparring for three rounds, and if he can do that with Manny, he can do it with anyone in the world [around his weight limit]. He's also the only person who can keep up with Pacquiao running. His speed is his asset, he has faster handspeed than Manny, and a fantastic jab, and like Manny, has the right style to beat Barrera." Let's hope Roach's confidence rubs off on Khan - both mentally and physically - on Saturday night. This is surely going to be a test not only of Khan's physical ability, but his opportunity to show that mentally, he can think his way through an opponent who is coming to the end, but has been tried and tested in every ring capacity imaginable. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/gareth...says_khan_has_greater_handspeed_than_pacquiao
if true then thats some serious handspeed. although I don't think Pac is as fast today as he was 5-6 years ago.
Pac throws fast single punches but in terms of flurry and combinations, yes, Kahn might be faster.... It's like Judah and Floyd... People say Floyd is super fast but actually Judah has the faster handpeed... But Floyd has better timing and knows exactly when to throw which is the difference...
Yet still his hands weren't fast enough to prevent him from being Koed recently and they wont be against the BABY FACE ASSASSIN !
He may be faster than Manny but he definetly does'nt have the power of Manny. Khan is not a big puncher and it's going to take more than hand speed to beat a warrior like Barrera.
Khan's a great fighter, naMean? He's gonna get in the ring and do his thing, naMean? I think, naMean, that he could be champ some day, naMean?
Khan is a good fighter he need to stay focus and trained as hard as true champion to be able to compete against the elite...
I don't think current khan is faster than the 126 version of pac... but he maybe faster now coz of pac's jump in weight and the age factor.
Methinks Roach might have gone a touch too far in trying to sell Saturday's fight. Pacquiao and Khan are leagues apart in ability as will be proven this weekend when for the second time in his short career Khan faces someone that completely outclasses him, only this time on a much larger scale.
khan may have faster handspeed than pacquiao. unfortunately that dont mean ****. if you have a glass jaw.
Too bad that doesn't translate into headspeed, so he could avoid punches rather than getting his chin shattered routinely.
