Khan has elite offence and weak defense. Not even going to talk about a "glass jaw", as that is the refuge of an idiot, anyone can get knocked out. The problem is he cant think when under pressure, ends up pushing the with his forearm, or pushing down on the back of their head, he loses a point then is under pressure. I like Khan but anyone he fights knows the opportunity will eventually come. If he boxed clever, knew how to defend, he would have been a real force.
I did not know that, if indeed it is true, it seems far fetched but I am ignorant to all the fights. The fight I compare it to is Foreman-Frazier 1. Foreman literally get's a finger wagged at him from the ref and is blatantly integrating a good shove into his combos ha ha! The two points docked from Khan actually lost him the fight on the cards I think. Pretty amazing.
Never been a fan of Khan...But I do think he was unlucky against Peterson. Even with the points deductions (which not everyone thought were fair, but that's another story) I had Khan winning, 114-111 on the night and 113-112 on a second viewing. At the very, very least, I felt he deserved a draw and the retention of his titles. Yes, Peterson definitely exposed some stylistic flaws and showed that Khan maybe wasn't quite as good as the Maidana and Judah fights had indicated, but that doesn't mean he deserved the win per se. Throw in Peterson's PED bust (though I have a hard time believing any fighter is absolutely 'clean' these days, albeit we've got to assume innocence until proven otherwise) and the 'Hat Man' stuff (had it been anyone other than Khan complaining, I'm sure more people would have at least agreed that some mystery man haranguing the judges and then celebrating with Peterson and his team afterwards was just a teeny-weeny bit suspicious), and I have trouble categorising that one as an unequivocal loss for Khan.
losing a fight regardless of weight is still fair. If you cant handle the challenge or can't make weight or literally whatever the situation, don't take the fight. That is why we have weight classes.
For the record... Khan had signed for (and was training for) the PEDerson rematch when Lamon was popped for drugs... The fight's original date was May 19th , 2012. Khan is re-directed to a Danny Garcia fight in July. They just kept his original training camp going. It was extremely long, disjointed for a small break, and he came in way over trained and under weight for the Garcia fight. The poor guy was royally screwed by PEDerson. In many ways the Canelo loss was more legitimate than Garcia.
Khan is going to beat Crawfish Crawford needs to set a high pace because Khan is no longer a 12 round fighter. If he lets Khan set the pace the fight will be Khan's.
That's a myth. Khan has fast hands, but his power is lacking. His offense isn't anything special. Give me a timed counter over Khan's flurries all day.
Because Khan blew his load in 4 rounds then faded big time Vargas looked 1 punch away from ending him. But still...Khan is coming for this trust me. This fight will be better than everyone thinks because they are underestimating Khan big time.
He doesn't have elite offense because his offense basically boils down to a very good 1-2 combo that he can flash out over and over till he gets fatigued. Once his opponents figure this out they walk thru Khan and that is when he gets in trouble. Take the Maidana fight, after the well timed liver blow due to Chino's high guard from Khan's 1-2, Chino came back strong albeit too late. He started walking thru Khan's "elite offense" however lucky for Khan it took 2-3 rounds for Chino to recover from that early liver blow. Also, the last 2-3 rounds of the Chino fight, Khan was in dire straits close to being KO'd at every turn as Chino came on strong. Had there been another round, Khan would have been pasted on the canvas. I still remember Khan's anguished face in the 11th and 12th... lol. The same thing happened with Clenelo. That rapid fire keeps opponents at his desired ranged for a few rounds at least until his opponents figure it out. After those first few rounds, Clenelo walked thru Khan's "elite offense" like it was made of paper mache. That said I do agree very much that Khan is dumb as ****, as he's unable to adjust at all. He's a broken record, only capable of the same trick over and over.
Lamont was on drugs, the ref was a joke, the judges were influenced by some random guy who wasnt meant to be there. THats enough questions to make that match void. Canelo was roided up and probably 180lbs on the night. Prescott wanted the Khan rematch but he kept losing so there was no point Khan would have smoked him. Garcia is a legit loss but I think Khan was drained at 140 and he;d beat Garcia at 147. Sure Khan gets rocked and knocked down by lesser fighters but he's never really been in danger of getting knocked out in those fights, he gets up and wins. Crawford has been rocked by a midget in Gamboa, Khan can hurt him.
Vargas was just a tune up, it's hard at Khan's age to be motivated for that type of fight, For this one it's a different story, Khan will come fully ready for this.. Khan going to shock the boxing World watch...
