One thing you cannot disagree with is the fact that he has been thrust into the public eye more than any of them 2 were at the beginning of his career. If you are in the limelight a lot and earn all the trimmings that come with that, then you also have too realise that you and your career are going to be under scrutiny more than anybody elses. And as somebody who lives in Bolton we get it all the more. You could equate him to being Bolton Wanderers as in hes reached the prem by hook or crook but hasnt proved anything yet.How would you like it if Bolton Wanderers dominated your TV channels and newspapers?Yes its ridiculous and it would get on your tits.
He has the potential to smash either one of those guy in the ATG sense by the time his career is over.
what broxi said. almost fully accurately describes what i've thought about khan from fight to fight. right now i'll give him the benefit of the doubt. i'm happy for him to be fighting JMM or Maidana - definite step in the right direction, and two potentially exciting fights.
I see what you are saying, but thats not his fault, the circumstances of the olympics, him being the only representee, it just all come together like that. True that his career is under much more scrutiney, but when you say he hasn't proved anything i don't get that. Yes many are saying he should gone the traditional route and fought Thaxton etc...but let me tell you Koltelnik is far better than Thaxton and so will his next opponent. I do agree at lightweight i felt he coulda fought better opponents than he did, but when his career is done, you ain't gonna look back at those opponents and say that will go against him. Its what he does from now on that will be remembered (obviously the Prescott ko will be remembered) but you know what i mean.
Id have more respect for him if he kept his belt and fought his mandatory against maidina than vacating and fighting JMM.Regardless of whether JMM is a way better fighter,i want to see Khan get in with a lights out puncher and box as confidently as he does against rubbing rags and non punchers. Also it was world title this and world title that a few months ago which just goes to prove that they mean sod all if they are that easy to discard.
I agree in the sense i would prefer him to fight Maidaina, but you have to remember JMM is a HOF fighter and a very very tough opponent. Someone who can beat Khan. Its a very very tough match up for the 23 year old. I have a question for you though: What other british fighter at the age of 23 was getting it on with a fighter of JMMs quality?? (Assuming that is the fight that is made)
Oh i agreee he has the potential to be much better but we will have to see how the next two years go 1st. And imo at the present moment maidana or bradley would prove more than JMM.
