Who said anything about Maidana? Kotelnik is still a poor fighter. And he is a world champion, so are alot of other people in the same division, he was given the opportunity because he beat oisin ***an and a very very shot MAB, then he goes after the weekest world champion in the division, this is becuase people with authority couldnt afford to lose their money on him. While i give u that Paulie is not a bum, he is certainly a carefully selected fighter thats tailor made for khan.
I ask u this, Most of the comments at the beggining of this thread relate to Khans chin.....What has he done since he made that comment to prove what people are saying regarding his chin is wrong??

 

did you watch kotelnik vs maidana?

watch it and come back and tell me with a straight face that kotelnik actually won.

 

Honestly....I wasn't too sold on Khan's perception of himself when he made those comments. But I did know the kid had incredible ability and talent. The chin was an issue for me but not so much like it was for most. That shot Prescott landed was a monster and I said that MOST fighters would have been out with that kind of shot. But more and more folks said to me in response that Khans chin has been suspect since the AM days. I've never heard of Khan until he made pro. So I sat back and wanted to watch him a bit more to make a final assesment of the kid. He's gonna be a legit World Champ in the future. His time with Freddie has helped him A LOT. And he'll continue to get better....

So I'm very happy for Khan. He's cocky and confident......seems a bit smug sometimes and I'm sure his ego will only get bigger. But I don't have to like the kid outside of the ring to appreciate his abilities in it. And i enjoy watch Amir progress.

I didn't like Khan at first either, I thought he was way too overhyped before he accomplished enough professionally to justify it.

After the Prescott knockout loss, I started to change my outlook on him though. That's the kind of thing that can crush a young fighter who's had all the hype, but instead of caving to it, he had the mental strength to get better and keep working through it. The imrovement's there every single fight- I think the KO loss actually served as a catalyst for him to really take his career to the next level. It's clear he's putting in the work to become elite after what many people thought was a loss he could never bounce back from, and I respect the hell out of him for that. I've become a fan of his since then.

 

I think so as well. I mean, Wladimir Klitschko is a prime example of someone learning from getting his behind KO'd and becoming a far more defensive fighter than he was before.
