KHAN: ''I think it'll be a long time until I come back to the UK''

Basicallly, the majority of boxing is shown on Sky Sports. That's a sports package that you pay a monthly fee for. The big fights (Hatton v Floyd, Khan v Maidana etc) are shown on Sky Sports PPV - a one off fee to pay on top of your subscription fee.

Khan's team seem to think that he deserves to be on PPV all the time, no matter who he's fighting - in this case a standard title defence against a relatively unknown fighter. That coupled with a terrible undercard has meant there's been little interest shown in tonights fight. Haye v Harrison probably made a lot of people think twice about paying £15.00, unless it was for a super fight.

Sky offered to put it on on Sky Sports 3 instead, where millions of people could have tuned in and watched, whether it's in a pub, bar or at home. Khan's team refused and still want people to pay £15 on a poor PPV channel - Primetime.

They've completely shot themselves in the foot and have turned away thousands of potential customers who'd have paid to watch a future fight with Khan and Bradley.

 

I think its worrying that Khan is so focused on money at this early stage of his career, he should just be concentrating on fighting as often as possible

buuuuut in taking an active role in decisions other than training and fighting, he'll lose focus on what the real prize is......winning the fight? the dude can't win, no matter what. Lets also clear something up here. The fight was originally PPV-£15. It was dropped bcoz Sky felt the undercard didn't warrant PPV status (is this Khan's fault fighters pulled out?). It's been shifted to Primetime at a cost of £15 with a lesser undercard. Ok, granted, the undercard IS ****.....i'm not paying to watch the undercard...lol it seems some ppl are only pissed that they gota shell out for the fight becoz the aint getting it free. Now a great fight free? **** yes, we'd all like that but i'm not hating on Khan becoz his advisers GBP included are just milking the cash cow.

The problem is, when Khan wanted people to see him fight, he was always talking about the fans and so on. When he wanted people to donate to P*kistan, he was talking about being British and asking us for help. When he wanted people to buy his fights on PPV, he's mentioned being a fighter for us fans. Now he blatantly admits he is only in it for the money and, honestly, if Bradley/Alexander wasn't such a flop, I don't think he'd be fighting in Britain now. The reason he is, is because Golden Boy know they need Khan to bring over thousands of fans to make a fight with Bradley financially successful.

The way he has always asked for the fans support, British support, and then ****s us over is disgraceful. Saying he'll never fight again over here because he can make more money in America? Then if he gets knocked out again, who will he come crawling back to? The British public.

 

That's just a pitiful attempt to protect Khan from criticism he rightly deserves. He isn't their fighter, he's the boss. Whenever things go wrong, he ultimately has to be the one who shoulders the blame. He is the one who has the final say on everything and he deserves criticism. A while ago, yeah, you could have said "Blame his team" but he's been in the business long enough to know when to take over his own affairs. Assuming he is just a gullible idiot then, so what? He still deserves criticism.

If he loses to Bradley in his next fight (which is what my money'll be on) he'll be back here before he knows it.

 

Guy donated a big part of his purse to flood victims from Maidana fight. Network screws million from his homecoming fight. I don't think he went to Primetime because of the money. It's probably **** you to Sky and that's exactly what I would have done.

If he had accepted the new purse it might of happened again, and not necessarily only to Khan. And before someone replies that he is risking his future on Sky; who's going to replace him for years to come? Froch doesn't draw casual fans. Haye might retire soon and fights once a year anyway and rest of the British heavies will be exposed as soon as they step up.
