Most people have only seen him at HW and the Johannson fights when he had slowed down some. Some of the B&W footage in there from when he's a LHW showcases his blinding handspeed, i'd say the fastest i've ever seen at that weight rivalling Charles and Jones Jr.

If he was doing that all fight then i would agree. I thought he had plenty power in numerous punches he threw that night. Throwing any punch (or combinations)is a trade off between speed, power and accuracy. And any boxer using the same tactic all during a fight is limiting himself and his chances of victory.

Hector Camacho Sr, Roy Jones Jr, Howard Davis Jr, Meldrick Taylor, Sugar Ray Leonard, Muhammad Ali, to name a few.

Naturally, I'm speaking relative to their weight divisions.

Obviously he put power in most of his shots, he wouldnt have dropped Maidana otherwise. But most of the flurries he threw, such as the one Laz posted, were really just arm punches with nothing behind them. The shots he threw with something behind them werent as quick as the flurries.

Khan's one-two is the fastest in today's boxing IMO but Pac multi-Punch combinations are faster...

Khan doesn't even look that fast in the gif Lazarus posted.

Even a 40 year old Jones looked faster in the Lacy fight than Khan does now.

Jones in his prime was much faster and actually had great accuracy and great power to go along with it.

There are a lot of good choices. I'd add Ali, Whitaker............and prime Mosley (the one that fought Oscar was lightning fast). Prime Hearns had rapid hands too.

And at heavyweight, after Patterson and Ali......Iron Mike probably deserves a mention.

    Roy Jones at middleweight,
    Meldrick Taylor
    Mosley
Srl (olympic version was probably fastest i ever saw)
    Norris
Camacho (hit like a b*tch though)
    Charles
    Patterson
    Ali
    Tyson
    Mayweather
    Whitaker.

Prime Roy at Middleweight was the fastest professional fighter I have ever seen.

I thought Camacho, particularly at 130, packed respectable power.

Roy was basically fast at no matter what division, 160, 168, 175, the HW fight with Ruiz.

Of course he had a tailor-made opponent for him, but hell, a 40 year old Jones looked pretty ****ing fast against Lacy.

As I said, I'm talking on the absolute scale, not PfP.

Floyd Mayweather, Zab Judah, Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Yuri Gamboa are active fighters just off the top of my head that are faster. If you want to go back in time, the list will never end.

I agree, i have never seen handspeed on that level! I think that speed is neck and neck with amir's fastest combinations

You'd give guys like Shane and Zab the edge at this stage? If it were a few years ago, I'd agree, but I think these guys have slowed down.
