Double world champion and seems to have made a big impact in the US, with other big fights lined up. The post fight presser was packed with press. On the whole, you have to say he outgrew Wazza and needed to go to a bigger and more global outfit in Goldenboy. Fair play to him, that was a great result against Judah.:good On the other hand Wazza doesnt have a PPV fighter or looks like having one in the short term. His Goldenboy Degale got beat, Cleverly will never be a PPV fighter and there is absolutely no one else that is PPV worthy. The Degale-Groves British Title PPV shows how desperate Wazza is these days.
Yep, fair play to Khan - he's doing incredibly well. Hopefully more people will warm to him now...he can't do much more in the ring than he is doing.
Its hardly surprising Khan has always had the talent to go on to a bigger agency like goldenboy if he was still with ****** he'd still be fighting in boxing halls in liverpool
The best decision was moving to the US, he was saying in an interview he felt too relaxed and comfortable in England, he was always the star and pampered. The whole gym was centered around him. In the US he was no star, felt tense, and had to work hard. No-one cared who he was in the Wild Card gym. he was just another boxer training. Sometimes it's best to leave the luxuries of home behind. He says he now only comes back to England now after he has done his training, and after the fight, as he can really relax here.
Frank deals with lining his and his fighter's pockets fighting bums for **** world titles in England, not getting his fighters the best fights to build a legacy and a p4p rating. I'm not surprised Khan is doing better without him.
No matter what you think about some of his crap talk on twitter etc, he is definitely an exciting fighter and he seems to be growing into a genuine P4P fighter under Roach. He also seems to have added more power to his shots under Roach and the lack of one-punch power was always a potential flaw in his game. He has racked up a very good resume and you have to say, despite everything, he has really vindicated his move to Goldenboy.
In the ring, Khan is doing fantastic. Business wise, not so much. No matter what way you try dress it up, leaving Sky was a disastrous move. He's now on a platform that few people know exists at home, and the jury is still out on how much of an attraction he is becoming in the US. Seemed liked a lot of mixed reports on the live gate last night. Most people not involved with Goldenboy weren't so optimistic. He still needs major promotional work on both sides of the Atlantic. It's well an good to hype him up in the American market, but they don't want to let his relevance in the UK slide either
He needs the backing of Sky badly. I think the cab drivers need to get down to murdochs place soon and start apologising and kissing arse.
