Once again, it was reported that Maidana allowed Khan to take an interim fight (and vice-versa). We just going to keep ignoring that or what?
who? ahh, yeah thats right, the great juan manuel marquez light/junior welterweight champ tell me again... how many times has jmm fought at 140?
Well I've found the following: Per ESPN: "One possibility, according to Schaefer, is for Khan, who wants to fight in the United States, to make an optional defense with Maidana fighting on the undercard, before eventually matching them." Now this is from a place where the scene involves boxing: "From what I was told, there was an agreement reached. Details of the agreement are unknown at the moment but there are two stories going around. According to one story, Maidana will allow Khan to take an interim-fight before they meet, and the other story has Khan-Maidana going forward on April 17 in Las Vegas." Steve Kim also reported something similar but finding twitter results is like trying to find salt in a snowstorm. One can reasonably assume, seeing as how Khan is fighting JMM, that the agreement involves Khan taking an interim fight while Maidana takes some step aside cash. Edit: Both are dated Jan 20th in case that's an issue. Kim's tweet came out last week.
No problem. I'm still unsure how the entire process went down. I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to assume he's ducking Maidana since they're still scheduled to fight. Now if a year goes by and we're STILL at phase 1, we can start the talk.
to be fair, i think we can kind of start the process now.. MM is the mandatory.. and if JMM is a better fighter according to Khan.. why give up a belt when you can fight a lesser opponent that most boxing fans prefer you to fight? makes no sense.
Because while most "boxing fans" prefer watching Khan/Maidana, most casual fans would rather watch him vs JMM. JMM is a bigger name and no matter what Khan says, he's following the name.
They are not scheduled to fight. The parties involved been told they need to agree to a fight... and were then given a 2 week extension. I would say the chances of Maidana fighting Khan in his next fight are pretty slim based on the GBP comments As for saying "how is he ducking"... he is ducking Maidana because he can punch
which fight gets more exposure for debt in the us marquez paulie or maidana for me thats the only question and the answer sure aint maidana
Exactly, he is a superb super feather/lightweight, he looked woeful at 143/144 against PBF, and being 3 inches shorter and having a 4 inch reach advantage AGAINST him... khan will easily pick him off with his jab. He has a slightly better chance down at 140... but i can see khan fighting the exact same fight as he did against kotelnik. Jab, jab, jab... run, run, run.
