Go look at the punch stats for Jones-Ruiz. Very low output for Jones. He didn't do what you just described Khan doing. Also Canelo happens to have just a bit more talent/skills than Ruiz had.

 

Khan has the boxing skills to outbox Canelo.

But he also had the skills to easily outbox everybody he's faced so far and he has been KFTO.

Several times.


So he probably won't hear the final bell against Canelo.

Canelo is arguably a better CPer than Garcia is.
Also probably has twice the power as did 156lb Garcia vs 158lb Khan.

And while Alvarez might not have the snap in his punches that Garcia did, he's certainly the stronger fighter and will be a far bigger man on the night, weight-wise and will have a 1 inch height advantage, 1 inch reach advantage, and at minimum, an unofficial 10lb weight advantage.

Is Alvarez as quick as Garcia was???? NO.
Does Alvarez have Garcia's snap???? NO.
Does Alvarez possess the power to buzz Khan???? ABSOFUKKINGLUTELY.

And once Khan gets hurt, he wears his heart on his sleeve and let's it all hang out.

I don't expect Alvarez to catch him in the first rd, I believe Khan will try to potshot as long as he can and try to win rds with the jab up and down, but as the fight progresses and he's being hit by a guy so much bigger than he's ever fought, he'll become the Khan we all know.:hi:

Im a fan of Khan's and Im hoping he can somehow pull it off, but IM realistic about the odds.

Canelo will have to be completely drained and Khans body work will have to severely slow him in the second half the fight, and that means Khan will have to survive til the second half of the fight.

With ANY LUCK AT ALL, Canelo will not catch Khan, be severely dehydrated in the fight, and go the distance, or stop Khan late with a lucky shot and realize, that even at 26 y/o, he needs to fight at a more natural weight, and that 158-160 would be better for his health and that avoiding Golovkin, a ringer for his career high payday, being both the A side, and the ridiculous amount of PPV buys it will bring, would be unwise, and dropping the title to avoid GGG might just tank his own PPV career. :think

 

Look at the Kirkland fight Rico.

Kirkland had Alvarez hurt and on the ropes in the first rd and even in the second.......

Just rewatched the fight....I was gonna say that Alvarez doesnt have Ruiz grappling ability, but at about 1:30 seconds into the first rd, when Kirkland had Canelo hurt, he showed Ruiz/Klitschko-esque ability to tie up.

Yeah, even if Khan somehow lands a dinger on Alvarez early, he'll likely be wrestled down to the canvas only to be caught by a counter shortly after. :?

 

Algeri is faster than Khan, has a reach advantage over Khan, and a far better chin.

He was easily afforded the opportunity to go after Khan knowing he couldnt trade even, punch for punch I should say, even with Algeri. :think

Why do people get speed confused with boxing skills? Canelo is a MUCH better boxer than Khan ever has been.

 

Its possible, but the only problem with most people who make brave predictions like yourself is that when it doesn't happen, they're the last person to give the fighter you picked against, their rightful due.


I think the fight will be competitive. Khan should be right in it for as long as it lasts, and if it lasts the distance, I see it close on the cards.

The fan as a whole has no idea about weight and style issues.
This fight for Khan is a more difficult task than it would be had he matched up with either Mayweather of Pacquiao, simply because of the combination of both weight and Canelo's underrated boxing skill.

 

I have no problem giving Khan credit for a win. In fact, I'll give him credit if it's competitive. As much of an idiot Khan is outside the ring, watching his fights is a guilty pleasure of mine. For some reason I find him very entertaining. I'm also a huge fan of Canelo's. Many of my posts might not seem like since I'm supporting Golovkin in this entire ordeal but I enjoy watching Canelo fight.

 

I wouldn't say much better, but I do agree Canelo is a better boxer.
Speed however does make up for some of the skill disadvantage Canelo may have.

A great average speed boxer more often than not will find himself having difficulty against just a good boxer with great speed.
......and if that speed is phemomenal, the speedier fighter can dominate a more skilled fighter.
Roy Jones vs Bernard Hopkins and James Toney are prime examples.

 

I don't like how people give Khan a chance because of speed. I've even heard that Khan can do it because Floyd did, and Khan is faster.

Speed isn't the only reason Floyd beat Canelo. He beat Canelo because of his defense and ring IQ. When he stood in the pocket, Canelo couldn't touch him. Khan doesn't have the defense or ring IQ to copy Floyd.

Garcia and Algieri were able to figure out Khan.
