Probably the 3 first rounds, then after Canelo takes over and his counters and Counter punching start taking over.
I could be wrong but simply don't see it that way. I just feel Khan is too fragile and he's fighting a good, legitimate 154 pound puncher in Canelo. Even though he has a good resume at 154, Canelo's credibility was instantly damaged when he signed for this fight because EVERYONE, and I do mean EVERYONE wants the middleweight champions to fight each other and unify the titles at 160, rather than face a chinny former lightweight at a catch weight at 155. Could you imagine the look on ODLH's face if Canelo loses?
GBP's job is to look after Canelo's best interest. There isn't a promoter out there worth their salt if they immediately matched Canelo with GGG right off his Cotto victory. When you match a cash cow like Canelo with someone as dangerous as GGG, you have to gauge within reason that you're maxing the amount of money Canelo could make against such a risk. A GGG fight can potentially sell double the PPV's if you let it simmer a few more months. In the meantime you match your cash cow with someone that's viewed as a risk, but that has more holes in his ****nal than what is viewed of GGG. As for the look on DLH's face if Canelo should lose? He's a former fighter that knows that Khan's speed could equalize Canelo's natural strenghth and punching power. I don't think GBP views Khan as a pushover and I highly doubt they'd be shocked if Khan comes out on top. Khan is a live dog, he's not Berto vs Mayweather.
Whats the last opponent that Khan has shut out? Does he even shut people out? Khan knows he can't win, he's just trying to make money and then go be a good muslim.
I actually agree with most of this post. The bottom line is money and GBP know this is a big money fight. But more than anything else, the boxing public at large would love to see GGG fight another middleweight, especially with a strap in an attempt to unify. Having said that, I realistically don't believe ODLH thinks Canelo will lose. How do you personally see it?
I think GBP thinks that staging a GGG fight for Canelo now, would make in the same ballpark than it would a Khan fight. Canelo runs a bigger risk of losing to GGG, and although I think GBP thinks Canelo will beat Khan, they know Khan is capable of pulling the upset. Khan's vulnerable chin I think is why GBP pulled the trigger on matching him with Canelo. If Khan's speed proves to be troublesome to Canelo and he were to be banking rounds, at the very least Canelo would always have a chance to turn things with a single shot where as Golovkin hasn't shown that type of vulnerability. Though both are capable of winning vs Canelo, the probability of GGG doing it runs higher, yet the money respective fights would generate are comparable. Its a no brainer really, you fight Khan first because Canelo is more likely not to lose to him. In the meantime, the anticipation builds for a Golovkin showdown. I just wish Golovkin would fight a "like" opponent. An opponent Canelo has already faced and given him a tough fight so that the fans could that the fans have that like opponent to compare the two fighters with. Lara, Trout, Cotto..... a big win for Golovkin over any of those three that held their own vs Canelo would really bring a Canelo-GGG fight to a boil so that the matchup generates great interest and great PPV numbers. Instead, Golovkin is fighting Wade who most fans never even heard of, which doesn't do anything to build the Canelo matchup. I'll tell you this, from a personal standpoint, I view Amir Khan as much more a threat than Cotto ever was for Canelo. I never viewed Cotto as being able to outbox, outslug, or outhustle Canelo. Khan with his height, reach, and speed, imo does have a chance to outbox Canelo through being able to flurry from distance and maneuver away laterally, making Canelo's slow feet have to chase. Khan has the physical tools to trouble Canelo that Cotto didn't have.
Khan has shown time and time again he is just not that good (at the highest level of course, since we don't even talk about the bottom 98-99% quality fighters in the sport). He's a decent title-holder, at lower weights than Canelo. Khan's edge in footspeed gets negated by the fact that he has poor footwork and balance. His edge in hand speed gets negated by the fact that he is not good at mixing defense and offense. Actually, he is just poor defensively, period. His defense consists of a high guard and his legs. Khan's edge in workrate/stamina is negated by the fact that he will leave himself open for counters by throwing more, against a sharp counterpuncher. Pretty much all of Khan's strengths will be negated by his many technical, physical, and mental (ring IQ) weaknesses. Khan is not more skilled than Canelo, he is just faster. Canelo-Cotto was a good solid boxing match in which both fighters showed technical skills and maneuvers that Khan could only dream of doing. Or maybe something that Khan can do in practice, but won't be able to perform them in the ring for long because he'll get thrown off his game, as he often is. It won't take long for him to get flustered and resort to his instincts and bad habits once Canelo is able to hit him with some solid shots by timing and countering him. Canelo is bigger, better, and will beat Khan quite easily. Canelo will have to suffer a freakish injury for Khan to win.
Exactly....Canelo is easily a better, more technically skilled boxer. For instance, there was one instance against Cotto where Canelo suckered Cotto by subtly moving his head forward, giving the impression that he was open. Cotto threw a punch, Canelo backed up and avoided it, landed his own right uppercut, and ducked Cotto's follow-up left hook. Has Khan ever done anything that skillful in his whole career? Is there any sequence in which he successfully used ring smarts and mixed offense and defense so effectively? Khan has decent boxing skills, he can look good against certain types of opponents. This is when he can control the distance and tempo. Usually this will come against light-punching opponents. However, it doesn't take much for him to get flustered off his game. He's sloppy and actually pretty poor from a technical standpoint. His many weaknesses come out once Khan gets flustered. The light-punching Algieri of all people decided to act like a pressure fighter and gave Khan all sorts of issues.
King khan could very well shut out canelo.if he can fight like he did in the beginning of the algeiri fight for the full 12 he will win handily but Khan is reluctant to listen to Virgil he might be better off leaving him
