I think the idea behind GBP picking JMM as Khan first opponent is so he looks good in his debut beating a known name in the states to make him known to the casual boxing fans, which most of them don’t even know who Khan is.

After this if Khan wins, sets him up for bigger fights.

Lol, and how did those people get to 'belong in the top ten light welterweights'? Ortiz? Who the **** has he beaten? Then he quit against his first reasonable challenge. Maidana? Lost to Kotelnik, so how is Kotelnik not a top ten light welter, but Maidana is? Juan Diaz? Has actually never legitimately won a fight at LWW, so how is he top ten? Campbell has one fight at LWW ever, which was adjudged a no contest, so how is he top ten?

Why would you be happy for Khan to fight Diaz at LWW, but not a guy who knocked Diaz out in Marquez? Your whole post is riddled with inconsistencies.

That's all in your opinion, which I consider to be worth nothing. I am following official rankings.

That aside, your not understanding the point of my post. It's about Khan fighting the Light Welterweight talent pool, he has yet to fight anyone who people would consider a legitimate top 10 light welter

It's mainly only the scousers that have a problem with it, as the Sun printed something mentioning how they are all thieves and wasters

that's true, but at the same time i think some people think marquez is a top opponent, and you know what, i agree with them.

Test his chin? We already know he has an appalling chin! What's there to test?! It's pretty much a gaurentee that if Maidana lands a nice clean shot, Khan will either wobble or go down.

But the question is, what if Khan goes the whole 12 rounds managing to avoid and block the large bulk of Maidana powershots, and keep him at range with his superior BOXING skills?

The fact that you already acknowledge Maidana as an "overrated slugger", gives the impression to me that you already have an excuse to bash Khan should he beat Maidana.

EXACTLY! I've said the same thing and people are just so stupid.

Why would you want to see him get tested when you know he hasn't got a good chin?! People should know he'll get knocked out or go down. - It's like they want to see him get knocked out.

They'll still critisize him again and again for idiotic reasons. Glad you know your boxing.

thats bull****, if he was avoiding prescott he wouldnt have had him on his undercard, they would probably have set up a fight if he hadnt been beat & looked shocking in that fight
roach knows khan has the skills to do prescott, now its just not making sense for that fight
hes fighting JMM, give the lad a break & some ****ing credit will ya ? hes already said himself he would like to fight bradley but he isnt ready just yet...so wheres the problem there ? ****ing hell, everyone knows what happend to vragas cause he got thrown in at the deep end to early, his career was over when he should have been in his peak... give khan some credit for taking a hard fight next instead of slagging off who he hasnt fought YET

Not at all, if Khan could get through Maidana whether it's by out boxing him for 12 rounds and not getting caught or even better by stopping him then Khan would get plenty of credit, he would have showed that he's able to handle big punchers by developing the defensive side of his game enough to not get caught.

You seem to think that people just have it in for Khan whatever he does which I don't think is the case, certainly not from my point of view anyway, he's clearly a protected fighter with his opponents being carefully selected so not to have him up against a big puncher and until he proves he can handle a big puncher in the ring then he will continue to receive criticsm.

You've hit the nail on the head dude. The main reason why such people are calling for this fight, is too see him react to a Maidana bomb. But if Khan goes through the whole fight not being hit, then these people will never be satisfied!

What has being on the undercard got to do with anything?:huh

I'm talking about avoiding him in the ring in a rematch, I'm not claiming Khan would hide behind a lampost of he noticed Prescott walking the other way down the street.

Khan is a World champion btw, when you are happy enough to take the title and be regarded as a World champion then you've got to take the criticisms that go with ducking people, if he wasn't a World champion then nobody would be bothered that he's being protected so early in his career, in fact I think he would have received more support and praise if he had built himself up slowly and gone through the UK and European champions first.

Your forgetting he isnt a prospect, he's a world champion.

However for the moment lets put that aside, name 1 legitimate top 15 lightweight he's fought?

The unarguable fact is that Khan has never fought anybody who is even lower level world class. The nearest is a European level fighter in Kotelnik.

With the majority of his illogical critics, that's exactly the case! These were the same people who after the Prescott loss, barked with full confidence that he will NEVER come close to winning a world title. Once they were proved wrong, they extracted some more excuses. They'll do the exact same thing if Khan manages to surpass Maidana.

But perhaps you're not one of these people, and perhaps you will give Khan credit if him takes on and beats him down the road. I guess I'll have to hold you to your word when their impending showdown finally takes places.

For the record, I don't believe that Khan is the fighter that a few have hyped him up to be (not just yet anyway). He is still green to me, and he shouldn't even be holding a belt just yet. If he was to face Maidana tomorrow, I'd favour khan to buckle under the powerful assualts.
