Khan-Maidana goes to purse bids

The situation was always out of Khans hands and in Maidanas, all he had to do to force the issue was call for purse bids. Whether or not Maidana gets anymore money is based precisely on how much a promoter is prepared to offer....as I said previously, Maidana may get the very shitty end of a short stick

Does anyone else think that Frank Warren would win the purse bids if it goes that far? I think Big Frank would put in a pretty hefty bid if it does go to purse bids.

 

He'll need to get careful that GBP don't win the fight a low bid, pay both fighters relative peanuts but give Khan a "bonus" on the quiet.

 

Yeah I think he's been ill advised in this instance.

Just take the offer - if he won (which he probably wouldn't) he'd have the chance of other big paydays down the line.

If he loses..... he's left with no money, no title and a spot on the ''who needs him'' list.

 

Why? People keep saying this, but he's not exactly known for whacking in random bids on fights featuring fighters he has no promotional interest in. He's also not going to stage a fight in the states (which would have to be done to maximise income from HBO, assuming they want to deal with parties over than Golden Boy on the same terms). Staging a fight in the UK at US peak time is possible but always has licensing issues that would need resolving and presumably take some time to do so. And if the fight were relying solely on UK revenue to make money, Khan was reportedly not exactly racking up the SBO buys before, again assuming they are even interested.

I'm not really sure why people think Warren would 'put in a hefty bid' for a fight where there are so many potential ways he can lose money. And even if he manages to turn a profit, it's not like there are any future benefits because he doesn't have any contractual ties with either fighter.

 

Well he won bids for Macklin and Rhodes and they were formally with him, he put in a hefty bid for Mitchell-Katsidis, he is planning a big show for the 11th because it's his anniversary in Boxing, he likes to double book against Khan so why not actually have him and he has previous of trying to get his old Boxers back with him.

 

Mitchell is promoted by Warren, and Rhodes and Maccklin/Barker fights were part of the Magnificent 7 plan. Though given that neither of those fights are actually happening, I'm not sure that's actually boosting the chances of it happening in the future.

Because of the stuff I said before and the fact that he likes to make money?

 

They tried low-balling him so Maidana did the right thing.

Khan was saying he was co promoting the fight here...which is why he seemed so interested in Maidana cash

Lol i hope he still wants to get it on at last now its gone to purse bids!...Maidana might well get less money through the purse bids....though hopefully not.

We've seen this before where the "rain maker" (Khan/GBP in this case) can hold Boxing and logic frozen for several months. I bet anything that the rest of the guys at light welter are waiting for the confirmation/outcome and GBP throws them a million dollar bone. I bet Teams Bradley, Alexander, Ortiz etc think they're playing it smart by not commiting before they get the call from Khan/Golden Girl water fall...but all they're doing, in reality, is playing right into their hostage ways for a major disappointment.

Maidana's got Khan in a corner, gets his money and the fight he wants, assuming Team Khan decide they want to fight

he did what he should have done in the first place and called for purse bids golden boy wrnt gonna give him more than 45% were they

so here we are khans apparently in a corner and was lowballing maidana to duck him yet that isnt the case
