Riddick Bowe certainly thought the amateur fight he had with Lennox was relevant enough to avoid him forever and ever!

If Khan was strong enough as an amateur to knock out Ortiz then he might just knock him into the cheap seats now.

 

Bowe didn't avoid Lewis because of the amateur fight, he avoided him for the fighter Lewis was as a professional.

In this instance, people might aswell be citing a school yard fight. You can look at a good amateur and say, this guy will probably do decent as a pro. But the professional ranks is a much wider game, people who flourish at professional often were terrible as amatuers.

dangerous fight for khan, but if he wants to become a legend, which i don't think his chin is good enough, but if he wants to become one then he has to fight these huge punchers. i think khan wins, and probably wins by giving a boxing lesson. khan has a crap chin, but he's a very good boxer.

There's a lot of fantasy going on when people start talking about Khan. He is not the next Floyd Mayweather but he will have a decent career.

The hard facts are that he is a fighter of average ability, average punching power but with great hand speed and great athleticism. But speed can take you far in boxing.

When you watch him sparring you can see his limitations. He isn't that great of a boxer, he is just very fast. People should try find some video of him sparring with Jose Benavidez, he's 6 years Khan's junior, just as fast but can bang and he is great talent. If his career can be managed well so that he learns at the right pace, he will be Roach's wonder kid
