Marquez, the WBA/WBO lightweight champion, has requested a very high number for a potential fight with Khan.

Marcos Maidana, who faces DeMarcus Corley on Saturday is becoming the front runner to face Khan on December 11th in the UK.

    Q4 of 2010 looking up.

To be fair, Marquez deserves a high number.

The thing is, it doesn't tie up with the risk/reward factor for Marquez. He's taking a big risk in fighting Khan and wouldn't get as big as purse as he probably wants. And Khan isn't a huge PPV attraction himself so it wouldn't tie up well.

I would be interested to hear what sort of split Khan thinks he's worth in a fight with Marquez.

I see a bad night for Marquez, but I'll still be going for him.

I think it's unfair for both fighters. Marquez expects Mayweather/Diaz type paydays as of now, and I think Marquez thinks Khan generates as much, when he doesn't. So the risk/reward factor comes in for both fighters and it doesn't work out very good because they probably won't get as much as they wanted to.

Who cares anyway, I hope it doesn't happen and we get to see Khan/Maidana.

If Khan doesn't generate good PPV then how can you expect there to be good money on the table for them to negotiate on. Not good money = bad split = problems.

I very much doubt that. Maidana is NOT an attraction in the UK. No one knows who he is so I doubt the purse will be a problem in that fight.
