Hypothetical as Khan's team will not offer Murray the fight but I honestly believe Murray WOULD take it.

I honestly beleive they wouldn't. Khan is so far ahead of him at the moment.

If Murray poses no threat he'd be an ideal candidate for Khan.

You can't seriously believe Murray would turn this fight down given the chance.

Yeh i seriously reckon he will. I haven't heard him calling for the fight since May before De La Hoya and the offer was laughable.

Every decent domestic L/W and SF/W is calling for the fight.

    Oh i don't rate Murray.

    You are mistaken.

Quotes from John Murray interview on BBN (NOVEMBER 2007):

"I'm also going to train over christmas again and will try to get Thaxton or entice Amir Khan into a fight. If I can ever get Khan into a fight I think it would be massive. Amir has every chance of winning and at the same time I think I'd have a good chance so it would be a good fight for british boxing in general. If I can get the English and then the British Title Khan can bring the Commonwealth and we'll have a load of belts on the table. He was young fighter of the year 2004 and I was 2006 - I'm young and fresh and want to prove myself against the best fighters".

I heard that bobby gunn is available and was quoted as saying " a few weeks is enough to get the weight off".

warren said he has upped the offer to thaxton to £125k and the offer is on the table to the end of the weekend, but i presume the propaganda was written before kristjansen pulled out.

also there will be undisclosed clauses in the contract as well.

but if it is an upfront £125k with a khan rematch clause that is good money for thaxton.

in america fighters like ding get paid way way less.

makes you wonder what khan is getting per fight.

Whether that is true or not, depends on whether you believe everything that comes out of Warren's mouth. I dont believe Thaxton would have turned down that amount.

Don't think the Thaxton fight will happen now - I hope I'm wrong.

Presume Khan needs to fight someone with a reasonably good WBO ranking to keep his 'youngest british world champ' hopes alive.

    Current WBO lightweight rankings -

    Juan Diaz - Champion
    Michael Katsidis - Interim

    1 Anthony Peterson
    2 Martin Kristjansen
    3 Nate Campbell
    4 Amir Khan
    5 Almazvek Raimkulov
    6 Zahir Raheem
    7 Kengo Nagashima
    8 Urbano Antillon
    9 Jose Reyes
    10 Yuri Romanov
    11 Eduardo Roman
    12 Ali Funeka
    13 Raymundo Beltran
    14 Chad Brisson
    15 Luis Gonzalez

Off topic but just out of interest, Elle are you the same Elle that used to post on the Brit forum here about 4 years ago?
