Khan needs to ditch Freddie if he's ever going to make a solid comeback.

I like Emanuel Steward but don't think he's the right fit for Amir Khan. Having Wladimir Klitschko as his premier fighter may make it seem like he favors defensive boxers but he really, really doesn't. How many times do you hear him implore Wlad to be more positive in between rounds? To let his hands go? How many times do you hear him talk favorably of Tommy Hearns? He's often asked about it and Hearns is - quite obviously - his favorite pupil of his coaching career and lauds his attacking, almost reckless, style. He's got another rangy, tall knockout artist blooming in Tony Harrison and Steward also enjoyed working with Prince Naseem primarily for his punching power.

For the past few fights I've been thinking Khan could do with an extended period at the Mayweather Gym. The fight with Floyd is off, but the surname can still greatly benefit his career if he manages to alter his style and learn how to block from Mayweather Sr, or Roger. Altering his style could even come fairly easily for Khan as Freddie Roach has spoken in the past about how good a student Khan is, but I struggle to actually think of anything major Roach has taught him during their time together. When Khan was in England he was always an exciting fighter with fast hands/feet… and not much has changed! His defense is so questionable and it is in need of desperate fixing. His team are strong at making these sorts of decisions so hopefully they make another one again, because Roach - with his large stable - is either not giving him his full time/attention, or has already taught him everything he can. Time to move on.

Credit to Danny Garcia. The better man won. Fans of Khan may like to say oh, if Khan did this or the referee didn't do that, then Amir would have dominated, but he didn't. It was a fair fourth round TKO and anything else detracts away from Garcia, an underdog's, achievement. The opposite view, that Khan is finished, is also hilariously off the mark. This kid has heart. He was written off after the Breidis Prescott defeat and came back. He always tries to get up after being dropped. He's a fighter, just with no smarts and poor defense but he's young and can move on.

Roach is overrated, but I love Freddie's dedication and knowledge, but I am not sure what he does to help Khan. Khan has hand speed but no technique. He walks into exchanges and was right in range for the left hook. That is not a lucky punch.
