AAA has came off as a total fool with his comments following the Cook fight to the extent that I'm reviewing my support of him. I had even criticised the great Ken Buchanan for having a go at Alex in the past (I felt it was unjust at the time) but these comments went beyond pathetic. As for the interview, it sounds very Enzo Maccarinelli delusional esque in the beginning when he's going on about how he 'could have done that to him' and also how alot of people in his position (prospect) wouldn't have taken this fight. Fair enough he says that 'the best man won' can't fault that. He claims he's 'still in the top in the World' delusional to say the least. He also says he's 'never said no to an opponent' despite downtalking the likes of Thaxton (where he was mandatory to his British title and removed from the rankings) and Murray whom he claimed he was above. Overall, he comes off as OK considering the manner of his defeat but Enzo Mac was laughed off the board for similar comments against a far higher calibre of fighter. So should Khan. He did say at the outset of the interview that he could have 'done the same to him' this is stupid and delusional in the context of what happened.
Sorry, I don't see how he can be getting flack for that interview. He has agreed to do a long interview the day after an embarrassing KO loss, he said "The best man won, no excuses" but he said he will work hard and come back stronger. What do people want him to say? "I am finished"? I have criticised his attitude of late and always said his chin would let him down, but he was clearly gutted, a points you could hear his voice cracking a bit, but he has had the balls to come and man up about his loss and get straight back in the gym to try and improve. His tactics were stupid, he rushed Prescott and got done. He then leapt up too soon as well. It needs HUGE defensive improvements for him to not get done again. But on the plus side for him...we don't know what Prescott will become or how big a puncher he is. He is some what of an unknown quantity. He doesn't look great from what I have seen on Youtube but if he went on to make a bit of a name for himself and KO some bigger names, then the loss would not be quite as awful. Personally I am fascinated to see who they match him with next. They cannot go back to real journeymen now, not with a multi-fight PPV deal to fulfill. But at the same time he needs confidence boosters, but not someone so hand picked that he himself will know the fight is meaningless and thus no confidence would be gained.
Mainly as he talks utter shite in parts ala Enzo Mac after his loss to Haye. 'Could have easily happened to him'....'I'm entering the World Class you have to be careful'....'I'm still in the top 10 in the World :nut ' Audley Harrison cops **** for coming away with stuff like that and at least in his first defeat he was beaten by a known name like Danny Williams by decision(horrible fight mind you) not a 1 round blowout against a guy who looked bad by most accounts, on the occasion he stepped up in competition in the States en route to a split decision. Of course we have no real idea how good of a boxer or even a puncher this guy really is because he hasn't been in with the right calibre of opposition that would highlight any short comings or incredible qualities he may possess as a fighter.
He's absolutely nothing like Enzo mac in that interview imo. Enzo didn't state that he best guy won - Enzo still doesn't accept it. Khan fully acknowledges he lost. It couldn't be more different from the Enzo Mac interview. I think whatever the kid does he is just going to be ripped apart.
I credit him for that, however like Maccarinelli he does state, and states it clearly, that it 'could have been either one of us'...which has echoes of Maccarinelli claiming that had the caught Haye first, then he would have won. He also does sprout other nonsense about still being top 10. These sort of comments irk boxing fans and make Khan an easy target for the haters, which I have been out of boxing snobbery it must be said since 2005 (I was really irritated when my friends, who knew nothing about the sport at the time, started saying things like Khan would beat Castillo and Corrales back in late 2005 after seeing him fight on the Harrison undercard). He made it alot easier to dislike him when he was coming out with outlandish statements even back then.
I disagree, boxers on the whole come out with all sorts of junk. I certainly don't see him as one of the worst culprits. I think he is pretty fair in that interview. Given the circumstances I really can't see how people would expect him to come out with much more - he must be gutted inside. We shall just have to agree to disagree.
It does not matter what Khan says or does. People are determined to hear what they want to hear. He has some balls to come out and talk about it IMO. When the 'I'm up with Naz and Tyson etc' thread was posted, where TFFP changed some of Khan's words about in an article, most of the board lapped it up. Only a few realised it's not ACTUALLY the kind of thing Khan would say.
I'm leaning towards this view too... But then he does say some silly (maybe cringeworthy) things too.... about being Top 10 fighter, World Champion in 1 year..... But then I think.... he's a boxer and needs to have that sort of attitude (coupled with Intelligence) - not blameworthy arrogance.... Anyway, now I'm in two minds about him....I was pleased at first due to his comments prior about beating Pacman etc. ....but now I've got a lot more respect for him.... It's not his fault people are making money off his name and achievments (young silver medalist) The pssimistic side of me thinks.... this is just more spin from Warren / Team Khan and Sky Sports.... trying to make the best possible picture from a very ugly scenario for them.... They're (were) hope to make a lot of money from Khan fights... but after his destruction on Saturday Night..... it all seems to be over.... Warren - Sky Sports have probably come together with Khan and told him to do this interview and try put a brave face on and possibly recover the situation....Warren is never going to admit Khan has got a Glass Jaw.... but now that most people acknowledge the fact..... he has less to hide behind.... I bet he's just hoping he can still milk as much from his Khan Cash cow while it's still alive (barely). :think
