Sorry to start another Khan thread people but I wanted to ask a question I couldn't find covered elsewhere.

Obviously had the fight been stopped in the 1st it would have been deemed a No Contest.

So how far did it have to go before going to the cards?

    Is this another Fwank special?

    That's what I feared.

So it went the 4 it needed and was stopped in the next even though the cut wasn't deteriorating

    Joke.

Nobody would of been satisfied with a no contest.
The cut was bad enough to be stopped alot earlier.
and without it we would of seen a very different fight.

I agree it should probably have been stopped at the end of the first, it was a terrible cut.
The only thing that could be said is that they were possibly waiting to see if the bleeding would stop.
But you cant blame Khan for that. Warren/ref/ringside doc yes but Khan no.
He did what he had to do. He looked totally dominant anyway so the cut probably saved Barrera from a humiliating beating.

I hope MAB hangs his gloves up now but from what he said after the fight I dont think he will.

when he got cut in the first I said to my mate that it would be stopped in the fifth. It was so obvious.

Yep. I predicted a Khan win in the 5th for weeks. I never bet but kinda wish I had done on this, my mate said the odds were 28/1 so a £5 bet would have had good winnings.

It does seem to reek somewhat of the home fighter getting everything his way. To be honest this happens all the time in boxing, its only cos' its Amir Khan that people are busting a blood vessel.
Why not do a rematch? This is the usual way to go when this kind of thing happens is it not? Saying that Barrera will be 50 by the time that gash heals up!!! :D

Barrera tried to head butt Amir Khan, and came off second best.

    That's life..

Barrera was pleading with the doctor to let him carry on during the first inspection so he wasn't looking for a no contest himself.

A first round no contest would have been ridiculous given the massive crowd and huge worldwide tv audience.

The above two posters are spot on, Barrera headbutt Khan, Barrera and his corner had ample opportunity to stop the contest earlier but wanted to continue.

At which point was Warren involved in the decision?

Actually, anyone that took the time to think about it would realise that a no contest could have been a very lucrative outcome for Warren.
