(Amir Khan returned to his local gym on Sunday in a show of defiance following his shock first round defeat to Breidis Prescott.)

"Yesterday I was up against a tough fighter and at my status not many fighters would have taken that on. "I took it on and maybe I rushed in, I've watched the video now and know what mistakes I made. "I might have been too excited - I wanted to get in there - especially against a big puncher. "I could have done that to him, he could have done that to me, that's what happens in boxing. A lot can change in a fight, he was cold, I was cold, but the big shot came in and he got me with some clean shots. "It's tough - you never want to get beaten in a fight but as I say I'm going to come back stronger - I'm still only 21 and I know how much talent I've got, and if I train hard, which I am going to do, I can rectify the mistakes. "I'm happy it's happened at this stage of my career because it could have happened later on when I might have been world champion. "I'll learn from my mistakes and I'm going to come back stronger."

Translation: we're going to go back to facing feather-fisted nobodies until we have to face a live body.

Newsflash for Khan - you can't teach a chin!

  5. Khan showed up and lost. It doesn't make him terrible. Hopefully he doesn't make excuses and complains from here on out

Even in an embarrassing defeat he mentions 'World Champion'. The people he must have around him convincing him he's world class, he needs to stop listening to the hype machine, it's over, I don't care how good his defence may become, the top fighters will always manoeuvre an opportunity and then BANG....again!

more verbal diarrhoea from team khan:lol:
seriously he's just taken on a new trainer been talking about this defense he's been working on and it was his first fight on PPV prescott was the perfect opponent to showcase his skills and make a statement. Prescott aint **** on the boxing landscape and these are the fighters you should be beating on the way up if you have any title aspirations

I question whether he could even beat anyone in the top 10 of his weight class. In theory, any possible power punch could stun him enough for his opponent to knock him out. Anyone with a KO rate of at least 60% has a shot at beating him.
