**** beating an awful limited hype job like Maidana. He should make GBP let him fight JMM or finish off Hatton.
I'm I the only person on this website who believes Paulie would be a much harder fight than Maidana ? Ignore the fact that Maidana can punch. Khan will never be in his range :-(
disagree with that Dan. khan will win a skills match against paulie. don't think it will be a walk in the park. but khan should deal with him alright. :bbb
maidana potentially for me. i just don't see khan losing a skills match. which is what a paulie fight would be. :bbb maidana potentially could hurt khan and that makes him more dangerous. i think paulie would outbox maidana though. :good
IMHO Paulie is the tougher fight, I undertand what HH is saying about Khan beating Paulie because how their skills/ options compare but i still think, getting caught with a hayemaker aside, that Malinaggi would pose more problems for Khan than Maidana. I'm not as critical of a Maidana fight as some people, the guy has a good record and his Khans #1 contender so its a decent fight to take for Khan but I don't think a Maidana fight will answer any questions about Khan. If Khan gets hit "properly" he'll lose and we already know he hasn't got the best chin in the world and if he doesn't get hit "properly" he'll win and we already know he is capable of outboxing the likes of Maidana (does that make sense?). Either way nothing much has been proved. Whereas I think a win over Paulie, whether stoppage or points, will show that Kahn is at least developing into a decent boxer under Roach.
Yep thats the way i'm looking at it. We all know the danger that Maidana presents however Khan will be looking to stay on his toes and avoid him for the whole 12 rounds (and will be conditioned enough to do so) whilst throwing his usual 1-2 combo's and getting off again. I'm not too sure that Maidana will have a way to combat that whereas we all know that Paulie has proved himself to be a classy boxer who can come forward without being reckless. He won't shut up shop the way Kotelnik did which will leave holes for Khan to try and penetrate. He's ok on the back foot (if not great) and his chin is excellent. His general ring craftsmanship is excellent and his hands are very fast (if not quite as fast as Khans). Would be a very very interesting fight and we'd also get to see how Khan would cope with the pressure of being ripped apart in the press conferences and see if that effects the way his mind is come fight-night
People are focusing on his chin too much because of Prescott. Power alone isn't gonna do it now. well I'd give him props for beating Paulie. People are acting like if he fought Paulie it wouldn't be an achievment. I don't know much about Maidana but even if he has power he's gotta land cleanly. What are his boxing skills like? It would be exciting knowing that one punch can change a fight but if he doesn't land that punch what will people say then? That Maidana was just a limited brawler with power? Paulie is very experienced and has been in with some very good fighters. Khan wins on speed but I wouldn't neccesarily say he's smarter or more skillfull than Paulie. Speed doesn't make you like Floyd. I don't know which would be the harder fight because I haven't seen enough of Maidana but Paulie would be a tough fight that's for sure. I'd wanna see that fight. You can diss Paulie all you want and as much as I can't stand the hair extension wearing fool, who has Khan faced that has been even close to the skill level of Paulie? Old man Barrera doesn't count. You'd have to give him credit for fighting Paulie.
