Hatton and Froch both give answers to "worst world champion" in tongue in cheek fashion. Khan...well....time to change that now you are fighting the man eh? [yt]ZF8y5xK88l0[/yt]
This interview was only a few weeks ago. I don't think its a coincidence that after calling him the worst world champion out there Khan is now fighting the guy. He must have known the fight was on the cards when he done that interview. Maybe Khan is playing mind games?!?:huh# ****ed if I know.
I cannot believe that Khan would know he was due to fight for a title and would describe that opponent as the worst world champion out there. It hardly sells the fight or gives him much kudos if he wins the title from the worlds worst champ. And on the BBC he is now saying "I've seen Kotelnik a few times and I've always been impressed by him".
I must admit that it is highly unusual for a boxer to **** talk about another fighter...don't think i've ever come across it before :-(
Of course his core fan base, Joe Public footie fans, wouldn't have seen that interview, and now it will probably never be heard of again in the mainstream media. I just find it hard to believe that he is asked who the worst world champion ever is, he replies Kotelnik (strange choice), then the fight is signed a few weeks later.......and this is all coincidence? I think not.
It's quite funny the way everyone feels the need to analyse every word that a sportsman says when thrust in front of a camera and asked an unexpected question which he's expected to come up with an off the cuff answer for. It was a dumb question. Hatton and Froch dismissed it with tongue in the cheek answers. Khan politely tried to give an actual answer but ended up basically answering the question 'who holds a belt around your weightclass at the moment who you think you have a good chance of beating'.
Oh dear. He's making a habit of saying the wrong thing. You can imagine the fleet street boys rubbing their hands with glee. "Khan ko'd by the worst world champion in boxing history". He's given them the rope to hang him with.
Sadly not, Buncey. He meant every word. That's obviously what Roach/Warren have been telling him for a while and unfortunately he was foolish enough to say it on live tv.
Look at his eyes and face - he's laughing! Also, listen to me at the end. Did Carl and Ricky mean it...don't be so literal. Amir knew then that this fight would happen... Relax - it's a great fight. Adios.
You guys give him too much credit. He wouldn't need to say anything to promote the fight. Warren takes care of the hype machine very nicely himself and in fairness Khan fights always do big business. The bottom line is that although Khan has some good qualities as a fighter, he's not a very bright lad. Look at his comments post Barrera and this should tell you all you need to know.
I didn't mean that Khan was seriously suggesting that Kotelnik was the worst world champ ever. I meant that he really thinks that he would beat him easily.
