He looked very sharp tonight. Accurate fast and powerful. Put Paulies head back a lot and hit him flush 3 times in a row something that never happens to Paulie much. Khan looked very good in this fight for two reasons one Paulie could not hurt him or earn his respect. So Khan continued to have his way. Two Paulie for what ever reason never used his legs. Why I dont know but it made Khan's life easier especially with the reach advantage. Khan had a great jab and a great straight right a superb left hook to the body and had some good upper cuts. Khan looked great but to be totally honest I wanna see him in there with a guy whoi can hit. My Guess is Prescott is next they wanna burn the demons and leave that in the dust also prove it was a fluke and seeing he won tonight he can be billed as crdibile despite recent defeats. If he passes that test put him in with Alexander two quick belt hoders with some power Things look good for Khan hopefully he is paired well. What about Ortiz not a dumb matchup there either.
Has basic boxing down. I want to see him in with someone who has respectable power. I'll root for him in his next fight as long as it's not Alexander or Bradley.
I'd pick Khan over a sloopy wide and eay to hit Maidana Ortiz had him down and in serious trouble before Maidan turned it around if Khan jumps on him early he can win.
I always said he would be a very good fighter. Guys like him who may not have the best chins just need to fight smarter. He's doing that now. His natural skills and speed are better than most, and that can take him a long way. His length is also very good for a LW. Only time will tell, but I think he will do very well. The LWs are very competitive, so I am interested to see how well he will do.
Just some observations... Paul Williams should take some tips from Amir Khan, on using your size and reach to your advantage against smaller opponents... Second, Paulie didnt fight like paulie...Paulie at his best is a mover, not a guy that presses fight, as the HBO commentators mentioned...
Could not agree more Jeff vs Ndou Malinaggi used the whole ring and may never have even been touched and the movement angles and speed helped him score a KD Paulie was off tonight for whatever reason maybe Khan just flat out edged him mentally or maybe he got cocky he did less moving in his diaz fight maybe he was over confident
There's also the fact that Khan is one of the fastest in the business at the moment. Paulie is used to fighting guys with more power than he has, but he isn't used to fighting guys who are faster than he is. It was really noticeable after the Ortiz-Campbell fight how much faster Khan and Malignaggi both were, and Khan was a clear step above Paulie's speed.
Taking nothing away from Khan... Paulie is a faded fighter, not an excuse by any means, Paulie bases everything off movement....Including his hand speed...Unlike Mosley who has the power to trade with guys, because he has superior hand speed, Paulie has very little power... To be honest, I still think Malignaggi has his hand speed, suggesting he is not "shot".....His movement is just not there as it used to be.. Paulie will take a urango type fighter to school, basic pressure fighter/brawlers....just where the hell was this guy in the hatton fight? Well done for khan, none the less..
Paulie was competitive for 4 rounds but thats about it no answers hands too low making it eay to gbe jabbed and just could not discourage Khan
I feel if Paulie can he should move down they said he made 140 easily he made 138 for Diaz. If he cant he should try and goad a light weight to move up how about Mrquez who struggled with Floyd's speed Juan maybe too slow for Pauli that could put Paulie back on the map big
Good win for Khan, but until he fights someone that will test his chin he will always be in serious doubt. I don't think Maidana is the answer, Maidana has a back issue right now and instead of waiting, why not a unification with Alexander? Alexander has more than enough pop and boxing skills to give Khan everything he can handle.
