Ok cool, thanks for correcting me, obviously I had listened to what Frank Warren had to say and believed it. Even so, I hope the ***** gets ko'd.
Khan, 100%. I'm amazed that the poll is even this close...kinda feel sorry for all the hate Khan gets.
No, and I don't think Khan believes he is one either does he? The first interview he gave after winning the belt I think he said that he was embarresed to show it in the Wild Card gym because he didn't think he was a real champion yet.
im pretty sure thats not what he said, if i remember correctly he said something along the lines of him being overwhelmed by taking the belt to the wildcard, not embarrased, wtf wold he be embarrased he just won a world title belt ffs
maybe a misunderstanding mate, i dont think he meant he was embrrased cause he didnt consider himself as a world champion, rather he was embarrassed as in being shy :thumbsup
No, I don't think anyone can really be called the 'champion' until they take on serious title defences from good challengers. Although ideally, a true champion would also unify the titles and become the undisputed best...I really despise the multiple belts and politics that goes on these days, quite pathetic. Having three or four 'champions' running around in the same division is just ridiculous. But anyway, Khan hasn't proven himself yet, true. But Malignaggi is far from a soft opponent. He's obviously not as dangerous as Maidana, who has scary punching power, but Malinaggi is still a credible and genuinely decent challenger. He has good speed, good movement, and moderate skills, definitely around a B+ level fighter. Getting past him, or taking him out in style, would be the first significant milestone for Khan in proving himself, in my opinion. Obviously I also want him to fight Maidana, and I truly believe that Khan wants to fight him too -- he's mentioned it various times in interviews -- and I think it's his management that are holding that back at the moment. I think I see why, too -- with a chin such as the one Khan has, you have to depend on defensive skill. Khan's defence is still quite leaky, definitely not something I would trust against someone with explosive punches like Maidana. He needs more seasoning, and thus this Malinaggi match is a good idea. If he wins this, he should move on to Maidana. If he can get past him -- which would be a big test -- he can start thinking of Alexander or Bradley. Personally I quite like Khan. I normally prefer slick, defensive fighters who work off the jab, but Khan has some pretty awesome speed, nice combinations, and a lot of heart/grit, evidenced in his domestic days with Limond/Gomez wars. Even against Prescott, he got brutally knocked down twice, and yet still kept trying to get up and fight...and he also rebounded from that savage KO and rebuilt his career really well. He has my respect...he'll lose it if he avoids good competition, of course, but for now he seems on a good course.
I do agree with you on most points there. However, I do not believe that Khan should have fought for the title if he is not willing to fight whoever there is to face out there (Bradley, et al). You are right on the subject of the amount of belts, etc, but to even get one of the lesser belts, a fighter should be willing to fight anyone out there. He should be fighting Bradley now, or JMM, but he isn't. However, that being said, Malignaggi is a good opponent, and we cant rule out that although he was taken apart by Hatton, he has since beaten Juan Diaz (twice, I might add), so he is facing a tough opponent. If he comes through this then I may consider the possibility of him deserving to be a world champ, but if he does beat paulie, then he has to be willing to face whoever is deserving of the shot, and not hand-picked guys.
Before has started talking so much **** about Pacquiao - which seems to stem more from jealousy than anything else - I would have picked Malignaggi. Now, I'm going with Khan.
A white person from Britan who claims Khan as one of their own...wow. I thought most of the racist ****s over there can't stop calling the man a "Paki".
That's a bit misleading, your making it seem like Roach was calling out for Khan to fight Maidana instead of Paulie. Yes he said this after the Paulie fight was already signed, in an interview when he seemed to be justifying that the Malignaggi fight was a tougher fight. In January he said: He didn't want Maidana next
