Maidana is coming off a good win, but he is nothing special.

Khan would be the favourite, I see no reason to duck/vacate.

Roach has said that Amir will vacate if Maidana becomes his mandatory. Now, if a boxer's coach (Who works with the guy on an almost daily basis) states that then you have to believe that this is not a fight they will take.

I believe that Amir would fight anyone, including Maidana, but since when has Khan been in charge of his camp?

Frank Warren calls the shots and if Roach says "No" you can bet this is a fight that will not happen.

I agree, but it would appear that Khan's trainer and his promoter, Frank Warren (who in a national Sunday newspaper was complaining that "The WBA are trying to force Maidana as their #1 contender") does not!

Like you (No doubt) I cannot believe that his promoter actually wrote those words, but he did (I love the way Warren has the temerity to question the WBA's "Rankings" when he has manipulated the on numerous occasions! He must believe that the champion should get to pick his #1 contender and not the boxing org!!!).

Or superbly managed and well protected!

Mind you, Amir does possess world class boxing ability (And a tin-foil beard, unfortunately).

what he actually said was "I'd like to see him in a unification fight as well. But before that, the WBA have ordered another mandatory defence against Argentinian KO King Marcos Maidana."

    Dangerous fight for Khan.

Although he's improved a lot since joining Roach, we still don't know how he will cope with a relentless guy like Maidana (who I think is light years ahead of Prescott). Will the Argentinian make him re-live a few nightmares? I think he will

Khan takes a few of the early rounds. But when he sees Maidana walking through his shots (maybe even getting off the canvas) with no signs of giving up, he'll be caught with a few more dangerous shots, be taken in to deep water, and stopped in the latter rounds.

i hate talking about chins and shattered glass, but maidana is what i call a K O specialist.
Khan would need to take care of this fight early on, big respect for Khan if he wins late on in the fight thoe........ Will gain massive respect if he comes through this fight..

He would be smart to do so, though...only a fool would stand toe-to-toe with Maidana and slug it out. I also don't think he was running against Kotelnik -- he was constantly moving, but also constantly throwing combinations, so it was cool with me. As long as he keeps pumping the jab against Maidana (with the occasional straight) he can move all he wants, as far as I'm concerned. The important thing is to catch Maidana in the middle of his wide swings...if he can do that it could be like the first KD in Hatton/Pac. Problem is, as Uncle pointed out, Maidana is just gonna get up and keep coming. That'll be the real test, and I dunno if his chin is up to the task when Maidana eventually does land. I DO know that Khan has real heart, though, so I don't see an Ortiz scenario playing out. If Khan loses, it'll be because he gets knocked clean out. I think he just needs to maintain the perfect strategy though, and repress his urge to go gung ho and get into shoot outs. Gotta outbox this guy all the way, and this fight is also great in that he NEEDS to have a good defence. Defence has always been his weak point, along with the chin, and so we'll finally see how far he's come in that department.

Hey roly, does that mean that Salita was Khan's mandatory? I have always been under the impression that unless there is an immediate re-match clause, the champion's first defence was a voluntary one.

your all dumb. maidana is the one who refused to take the mandatory spot so he don't want to fight khan.
