Just stumbled across this, in the Daily Telegraph website so make of it what you will.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...versial-victory-over-Juan-Manuel-Marquez.html

Article published today at 6am, no mention of when the quotes were made or to whom, however......

    Choice passages/quotes:

“It was a close fight,” the Bolton fighter said. “You could see Márquez had done his homework and knew what he needed to do. When they went into the last round, I thought Márquez was going to win and *Manny’s trainer Freddie Roach thought the same."

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

“But I’m going to tell Manny to consider retirement and not go on too long. He has some serious thinking to do – he was lucky and he got away with it against Márquez.
Manny did [win it], but he doesn’t have to keep taking these fights. The more he fights, the more it might take some of the gloss off his great legacy as the best fighter in the world.”

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Khan believes the demands on Pacquiao from the worlds of politics and business may be taking their toll. “Look, he has so much on his plate, and on the strength of this performance, he wouldn’t beat Floyd Mayweather Jnr. For his sake, we have to be honest. He is my friend.”

    Interesting :think

Problem is you could probably find a quote tomorrow where he says Pacquiao would beat Mayweather.

I don't put much stock in his opinions.

Part of the reason I posted it up to be honest, will be interested to see if the "official opinion" on this will change with pressure from Roach/Ariza etc?

Hope the lad doesn't shoot himself in the foot and burn any bridges.

To be fair to Khan, I can see how his comments could have been misunderstood to give the wrong impression. I mean, if I was to hear (not read, but hear) Khan say "I’m going to tell Manny to consider retirement and not go on too long", to me it would just mean Manny shouldn't carry on fighting beyond his prime, and that after the remaining final necessary fights, he should call it day. But the Telegraph's title of...

'Manny Pacquiao urged to retire by Amir Khan after controversial victory over Juan Manuel Marquez'

...paints a different picture. It's like he's telling Manny to retire now. Which of course is ridiculous.

Oh i'm sure it "reads" worse than it "sounds" (I read with a large pinch of salt) but still some interesting quotes in there if they're accurate.

Yeah. Some interesting stuff. I'm also beginning to question the type of sparring Pac recieves, too. Not the quality of them, but the style. Were they that clueless of what JMM was going to do on the night, that they didn't bother to bring anyone that would mimic his style so that Pac could familiarize himself with it? Pac's inability to cut off the ring and neutralize someone who takes away his left hand, has been obvious for a while. Yet they've not shown any signs of rectifying the problem.

If I was his advisor I would say -

    ''Amir, stop ****ing talking''

  11. :yep

Khan is one of the easiest people to misquote at times.

Even when he's really rehearsed there's always something stupid that can be picked up on.

He'd be better off just talking smack and calling everyone bums or just sucking up to everybody.

I do like him a lot, but he is as thick as pig ****.

Like you say, he'd be better off with an act that is 'simple'.

He tries to be diplomatic and ****s it up all the time :rofl

Pacquaio doesn't have a chance in hell against Mayweather. Ironically his ideal opponent would be Khan, but they can't fight, Bradley's a good fight, but in terms of saving face it has to be Marquez or Mayweather and neither will coat him in glory
