Khan is a champion. Did he take Madaina's title in a close and disputed fight? What about Prescott's?
But............Khan shouldn't have looked past Peterson, and DLH and Khan's team should've ensured Khan had a mandatory rematch clause.:rofl

But I guess that's what happens when you lowball a guy. Peterson has the right to play hardball now, and looks like he will.:-(

He is simply not that good on the elite level, even in a poor era, and is unlikely to ever be great.

There's more to boxing than speed. Otherwise, Hector Camacho Sr. would be in the discussion for GOAT, Zab Judah would be an ATG, and guys like Carlos Monzon and George Foreman would be afterthoughts.

 

Just like Khan was fair with Maidana and Barerra

 

One home town loss dont make you a bad fighter bud, Khan has areas to work on but he still only 25yrs old.

 

Why the hell would Lamont Peterson fight Khan again in neutral territory, when he can fight JMM for more $$, more exposure to a bigger audience and a chance to fight at Cowboys stadium.

 

There's a huge gap between "bad" and "great". Just being in the top ten or so of your division means you're better than 99% of the pros out there and should qualify you as "good", IMO.

On the elite level, though, is a different story. Khan lacks sssooooo many things to be "great", and the fact that people actually expect greatness out of him just goes to show you how people get too excited over speed and ignore so many other aspects of boxing.

Bringing up age is just being overly optimistic (to a point of delusion) when you rely so much on speed and your technical skills are as flawed as Khan's are. Not to mention the physically taxing fights Khan had been in.

Umm lets see .... Guerrero, Paulie M., Matthysse, Alexander/Maidana winner, Morales/Garcia Winner .....

Obviously he would have to wait another 2 or 3 months for some of these fights, but he def has options to begin his title defense.

The fact that Khan is willing to fight others on their turf, makes me still slightly root for him, but controversial decision or not, he acted really immature in this whole ordeal. You know Khan wouldn't give him a rematch immediately if tables were turned.

 

Those guys didn't lose those fights from point deductions from a ref that was from the same city as the other fighter.

I'd rather see Peterson-Khan 2, but it is what it is. Peterson is probably chasing a Pacquiao fight, much like Bradley did, and it is easier to get that by fighting Marquez in this so called "semifinal".

Most guys would do the same thing. I doubt Khan would rematch Peterson if he had a chance to fight a "semifinal" to face Mayweather.

If Khan moves up, there's interesting bouts at WW. Besides those guys mentioned, I'd love to see him and Ortiz face each other.

 

But he wants to retire at 28

 

Fighters always say that. They rarely ever do.

DLH was supposed to retire at 30 and Hopkins at 40.

RJJ was supposed to retire a long time ago.

 

I don't really see him sticking to that, to be honest.
