Why is it the loser of the bout in question has to give the rematch? Boxer A beats Boxer B Boxer A offers Boxer B rematch Boxer B rejects rematch If A isn't Prescott and B isn't Khan no one thinks anything of this situation, it's not Khans fault his career progressed and Prescott hit his peak against Khan, if there careers went the opposite way no one would discuss this, therefore I don't think a Khan Prescott fight is appropriate.
In actual fact Prescott's last 2 losses to Alvardo and Mcloskey are more impressive than his last win against Figueroa. I've said this in other threads but Khan should get his carrer back on track by avenging his losses starting with Prescott in the UK. The Reebook stadium would probably be the best venue because he will get booed out of the building in most arenas in the UK by the racists. He then should fight Peterson again, followed by Garcia. If he beats all of them, he can then begin to reevaluate his career, be it move up to 147, fight someone like Marquez at 140 or whatever. If he losses to one of them, he should retire. As Carl Froch said, he's made enough money now, he doesn't need to be there to make up the numbers.
People forget that after the Khan fight, 'ol fish eyes' had contractual rights over Prescott and kept his career stagnant for 2 years. Sued him for a 'stay busy' fight back in columbia and then put him in the ring with Mitchell who did the jab & run on him all night and put on a clinic. I actually think Prescott is the only option for Khan if he wants to gain the peoples respect. I can't think of another opponent that people will go with. Go get some revenge or get KTFO again, I'd say he definitely has balls if he takes it. Don't think he'll take it though. He is looking for the pot at the end of the rainbow, but that went when Garcia did the job on him. Back to basics
People are stupid if you think Khan is ever gonna Prescott again now, firstly if he gets koed (which he will) its the end of his career 100%, secondly he may be able to get decent fights like a rematch with Peterson or Malignaggi at 147 or Kell Brook, Khan might wanna rematch Prescott but there's no way his management team let him anywhere near Prescott
khan beat maidana kinda throws the reason for a prescott fight out the window. prescott has lost to joruneyman since then where as at least khan lost to elite fighters
Name these 'journeymen'? Vasquez - World Champ Mitchell - Fighting for a World Title McCloskey - No where near as good as the other two, but former World Title challenger, and Prescott won that fight IMO. Alvarado - Undefeated prospect who is fighting a former World Champion in a huge fight. Plus Prescott was winning that fight before he got sloppy. Vasquez is elite, Mitchell and Alvarado are world class. Your underestimating Prescott big time
If he beats someone like Alvarado in a rematch, or Rios, then sure. Right now it's not so easy to sell.
How is it not easy to sell? I'm from the UK so I can tell you casual fans will recognise Prescott from the first Khan fight.
Prerscott rammed Khans **** in- in 56 seconds , thats what matters. Khan will run across the street if his daddy Prescott is on the streets of Bolton
I think that Amir Khan just like anyone else has to cast away his personal deamons and that is by way of rematch with Peterson, Prescott and Garcia and win convincingly. If he says it doesn't matter it is b'cause he doesn't matter accordingly.
