He's not more interesting than the other names and it won't get the haters off his back.

It probably will generate more money though.... But is that what people really want????????

Oh come on - it is more interesting, that's why it will make more money. It's got a cracking story and would prove that Khan will fight anyone - that would end all this "scared" / "handpicked" opponents stuff once and for all. Personally, following Maidana, this should have gone away anyway - but it hasn't.

Are you seriously saying that Peterson is a more interesting fight than Prescott?

I'm for the fight because of the simple reason that this fight is a tuneup and the reality is that there aren't many options available. Bradley, Alexander, Judah, Ortiz, Maidana, Katsidis are all unfeasible or are not available.

So that leaves three option Peterson, McCloskey and Prescott.

Peterson has been shown up in the two fights that he stepped up (I thought he lost to Ortiz and so did a lot of other people) and he hasn't won a fight (don't count Fuller) since Early 09. He also does not have a big win on his record that he can live off.

McCloskey hasn't beaten anything resembling a legitimate contender and he struggled like hell with Lauri who has been beaten comfortably every time he stepped up.

Prescott is **** and has been on **** form but at least it would be a shot at redemption. Boxing is a sport but Boxing is also about the road that fighters take, the stories they tell and this fight perfectly encompasses that aspect of the Sport.

I agree mate, it makes for a good story line and the general public will buy into it but I think that Peterson and McCloskey are more credible opponents. These fights probably wouldn't generate as much money but they would provide a better fight for the real fight fans.

Similarly - Andy Lee could do the same and fight Brian Vera to avenge his one defeat but instead he's gone the tougher route to take on Duddy. I accept that Lee wouldn't be at Khan's level but I think the principle remains the same.

Don't get me wrong - I respect Khan and I think he's the real deal but I think some of his critics will never give him the credit he desrves no matter what happens and who he fights.

The only reason why it should happen, is so Amir Khan and his fans. Can stick their middle finger up, at all his racist critics.

there is no estalished competative architecture to boxing so it almost comes down to mano o mano unless someone finds his level, sticks to it or ventures up. in reality the majority of it is bogus. due to this, i want to see khan the man beat prescott the man. style vs style. warrior vs warrior. there can only be one winner. repeat or revenge.

    you get the theme.

wrong mentality. shane lost twice to forrest and wright. hearns lost twice to barkley. still great fighters.

i would not argue khan should avoid tim or devon but this is a voluntary defence and he isn't intending on facing an elite fighter so prescott tops the list.
