Doesnt matter if Naz was hated by some at the time he was still a superstar who transcended the sport because of his personality and talent. Every fighter of any colour have people who hate them. Khan isnt a superstar because he doesnt have the talent and the personality. To say its because its because of his colour satifies the chip on his shoulder for not recieving the adulation he thinks he deserves due to lack of personality and talent.

he's got a point. UK people go nuts for a talentless hack like Ricky Hatton but when some young packy gets starched and stumbles early in his career they turn on him quicker than the germans did against Poland.

    Personality? Maybe.

    Talent? Come off it.

He's one of the most naturally gifted boxing athletes to come out of the UK. Main problem is his chin but really I'm talking about skillset.

And Naz was hated by many - not some. May be water under the bridge now, but it wasn't back then.

    Yes, every fighter has haters.

But when so many of them come disproportionally out of the woodwork to hate on his ass (at times anything he does will be seized on) you gotta figure something's up. Specially when so many of them are from his "own" fanbase (in the UK). Seems pretty obvious if you visit any of the homegrown forums.

Its natural for being to identify with people of their own race.

Id be interested to see what section of the Paki community gave the kind of support they give Khan to Hatton.

I used to go to a lot of promotions in Australia that had Arab boxers with relatively large, parochial fanbases. For the most part they were great, really added to the atmosphere of the night and they really got behind their fighters. But if you start chatting to them about other white, aboriginal or fighters of other ethnicities they have absolutely no idea about them. But then they cry foul that their fighter isnt getting enough attention because of their race...They arent wrong but at the same time they are doing something similar.

Doesnt make it right but it does work both ways. Its just how it is really and it might be another generation before it changes....or it might always be like that.

Anyway with Naz I'd say it was more of a popularity thing - not that he was loved; but he was really recognizable because he was that arrogant ethnic that went around KO'ing people. And boy did folks not like him for that.

Yeah I mean that's a fair point. For me I'm just calling a spade a spade I guess.

People on boxing forums dont make a difference to whether or not someone is a superstar or isnt though. Its the general public that make someone a superstar and as I said we have only had 2 in Britain in the last 15 years.

People on boxing forums - are still people. And they live their lives as members of the general public.

In fact, you can sometimes get a better angle of what folks really think when you view forums. The reason being people will say what's actually on their minds rather than hiding their intentions as they would in real life.

Of course you always get the occasional fool who tries to start up trouble. A comment here or there. But when it's so pervasive - it becomes hard to ignore. Plus I've seen it first hand - else I wouldn't have believed it was as common as it is.

OF COURSE they would root for Khan and not Hatton -- white people are the only people that routinely root for people of other races. You know it's the truth. Black people in America aren't so bad about this, but Pakistanis? Of course they will root for their own before anyone else. Think of all those dumb Pollacks who get excited for Golota or Adamek or whoever the **** is Polish and winning fights at the time. Half those clowns probably don't even watch other boxers.

Regardless of what people on boxing forums think it is not them who make a superstar so saying you think they think one thing or the other does not affect why Khan is not a superstar. He would not be a superstar if he was white and he is playing the racist card as he is upset at not receiving the adulation he expects.
