Khan said he'd be superstar if he was white

Newsflash-we're almost in 2010,nine years since that happened.

 

There will always be a minority of people who don't like him because he's Asian. But it's more than a minority that dislike him now. The reason they dislike him is because they're starting to realise that he's been over-promoted and over-hyped, and because he seems vulnerable because his jaw is made of paper-maché.

 

I think he is suffering a bit from Audley Harrison. People are sick/sceptical of the olympic boxers getting huge fame and recognition over hard working professionals who build up alocal fanbase and dont get paid huge bucks to pay cherry picked fighters.

I also think it rankled a bit when he beat an old barrera and talked as if he was some amazing feat and we should all swoon over him.

If he keeps fighting and beating good oppostion, he should at least get the respect if not love of the nation.

 

Well one thing i noticed about Hamed is towards the end of his career he became a preaching muslim. And with 9/11 being so fresh in the memory i don't think it was the best thing to do.

I do however think Britian is racist, like every country. Media of any nation will always show favour to natives. The problem with muslims in general and the reason they are targeted by british media is because they never fully intregate into the british lifestyle and expect britian to change to accomadate them. If you look at black people, even indians they don't attract near enough hate from the media as muslims.

Slagging of a nation isn't going to help your cause either.

 

You are right, my point of view was American-centric. All of the western countries have their own quirky relationships and histories with minority groups.

I think the question is more of assimilation and acceptance. Black and White history has been joined at the hip for the past 500 years. Indians for a shorter but long period as well. Blacks and Whites fight like family, hahaha. At the end of the day though, we are probably the most culturally similar. Not making a judgement on it, from what I hear, Asians (Middle Easterners in American speak) are not assimilating as fast as the British (and general European) population would like.

Y eah, this annoyed me too. Khan is doing very well all things considered. It's comments like this that will impede his success. Good on his dad for setting things straight. Khan is really pissing me off with his reecent comments.

 

he's right about people booing him because of the colour of his skin. But he's wrong about being a superstar if he was white. If he was white he'd just be another normal guy. If people are booing him because of his skin colour then it shows that he's a bigger star becasue of his skin colour.

He is right. Go on youtube and see his videos and look at the comments, so many people are just racist towards him, its horrible. And how is he a twat? People like you are just worthless, I mean really...pathetic.

 

Khan's right. If he were white, he would have a Ricky Hatton style following. I know for a fact that if Murray builds a name in the coming year and fights Khan in Dec 2010, most people would root for Murray. Whatever way that some people try to consciously try to justify your hatred for Khan. E.g.....
- He's got a glass jaw (so did Bruno, Herol Graham etc)
- His family are annoying (Have you seen Hattons family, the Mayweathers, the Calzaghe's family? The fact is, like every normal family, they are going to be proud of their sons achievement)
- I hate him because his fans are twats (What about Hatton's chavvy fans, who had the nerve to boo the American national anthem in Vegas. Plus, Amir Khan is the first British Pakistani boxer, in an age where you hardly see an Asian face on British TV, it's great feeling for these people to see someone of their background do well in sport)
- He's a gobby twat (no he isn't, in fact he's far from it. Look at some of these footballers. The fact is that Khan won a silver medal at 17 and made so much money overnight. Most people would have got carried away and went on some binge drinking sprees and ****ed a few slappers, later to be found out on the News of the World. I've never heard Khan involved in any bull****).

Oh, for **** sake. He's a only a young kid making mistakes and learning. There's far worse and more arrogant kids than Khan who have achieved a fraction of what he's achieved.

So the conclusion is that a large fraction of the fans are still subconsciously racist, but find consciously find excuses to justify their hate for Khan. This is a fact, so deal with it. Anyway, I'm off to chase some girls and have some beers.

No they don't. People argue and stuff on Youtube but there is some horrible horrible comments by worthless little dicks that are just racist. I don't know why people have such a problem with him? What did he ever do wrong? Its so stupid. He is doing what he is told and trying to become a better boxer and doing what all boxers do, and beating the people that are put in front of him.
