Yeah the Prescott fight was really close but he still got his world title shot. Im not saying its not good enough hes early in his career but if your gonna look at Youtube comments and take them seriously then you should think again because those people will slate anybody for any reason racial or otherwise. So dont get me wrong I will back Khan's career, I actually quite like him as a fighter! But he should accept the fact people are frustrated with he took an easy route to a world title and still got knocked out due to media interest when more deserving fighters have had to battle for 30-40 fights to get their shot. People dont slate Khan for his race, look at Prince Naseem he was widely loved or hated in the UK for his arrogance but I dont recall his race ever being an issue. He should remember alot of white people including myself consider ourselves fans, hes done more than alright for himself through the white people who have fast tracked him to a world title so just ignore the ignorant few. If he beats a prime world class fighter he'll become the superstar he craves to be, and he will deserve it. Race will not influence it one way or another.
..im american and i am a big admirer of danny williams because he is genuinely an A-1 nice guy and humble and the fight where his arm was broken, and he fought with one arm and scored a devistating KO serves as notice to how much courage he has and his will to win.....and he also fights often win or lose so hes always out there doing his trade,,,,
firstly herol graham and frank bruno didn't have glass jaws. bruno fought at heavyweight where one punch can knock anyone out. also he was only once properly ko'd, the other 4 losses were tko's (completwly different). herol graham also only has one full out ko, and that was to a p4p puncher. the other 2 ko's were tko's one against a guy who retired with a 22w 17ko's ratio (pretty good) and the other ws when he was 40 years old and his first fight in 2 years. okay now that i've got that sorted out, he is quite gobby. what with his 'froch is a poor champion' and 'froch is boring' comments, and yes i know many think froch is a gobby twat (and to some extent he is, but one thing he is, is consistently entertaining unlike khan). i'll explain why i dislike khan. 1: Hype, he has had an exceptional amount of unwarranted hype. 2: Frank Warren's babying of his golden goose. he is getting the warren treatment, the breidis fight only happened because he was an unknown quantity, and khan's then trainer suggested him as a test (something khan is still not used to). and immediately after the fight the trainer was fired. 3: He can't take a punch. and i know that isn't everything in a fight. but slugging it out is one of the more important (to me) things when judging how exciting a fight is. and due to his awful chin i can't have the pleasure of watching a truly explosive fight (not that that is what you get considering the lack of punching power of khan's opposition, bar prescott). 4: The fact that he blames the public, for him not being more popular (i know some people don't like khan due to his race) but to essentially accuse everyone who isn't a fan of him to being racists shows that he is a prize ****, who is incabable of taking genuine criticism. 5: The fact that he was headlining pay per views without being a champion. i mean seriously **** paying £15 for him when there isn't a world title being contested. 6: He didn't go to the traditional route of fighting the best domestic fighters. other then fighting the shitty willie limond, and the by then spent graham earl, he didn't beat the best in britain. people say he would have sparked murray, i say at least prove it. then of course he goes on to fight a shot to **** barrera, who he beats by a glorified technical decision, and then goes on parade this 'victory' as if it is legitimate. and then to top it all off, he ducks the champions in his own weight class to instead go up and fight one of the worst champions of the last 20 years, in kotelnik, who the khan camp has the audacity to claim was a 'dangerous puncher' prior to the fight. that pretty much sums up the main reasons for my dislike of khan.
man its all true i have to agree with Khan but he does himself no favours by falling into the trap of these types of questions when he is asked, he just made another school boy error much like the one vs Prescott. go to any of khan's youtube video of him vs prescott, i guarentee you almost everyone one of them has racist remarks left on the comments below. You just don't get that as much with black boxers and almost never with white boxers.
Read my posts for reasons to dislike him (fast-tracked to world title despite being ko'd by Prescott etc.) and people over here generally liked Nas during his career so whats the difference, hes simply disliked for other reasons race doesnt always have to be an issue and in this case it isnt. Also Herol Graham did not have a glass jaw I suppose you saw the Jackson fight and jumped to that conclusion but its bollocks I'm afraid.
For all the Americans posting in here with comments of ridicule: No offence, but unless you've lived here for at least a while, you won't really understand the distinctive style of racism within our society. Refer to Leif's post for an indication of the situation.
The above post was: I don't mean to dwell but you seem to have contradicted the post of yours that I was originally responding to. See below.. I'm genuinely confused. Do you believe the colour of his skin is a factor or not?
This is ridiculous. By this ridiculous logic, no one who is white is allowed to dislike anyone from a different race, no matter what their reasoning, because it belies subconscious racism? So what?
