Reasons why Manny Pacquiao is a superstar: "He is currently the WBO World welterweight champion, IBO and Ring Magazine light welterweight champion, and is rated by Ring Magazine as the #1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He is also the former WBC World lightweight champion, WBC World super featherweight champion, IBF World super bantamweight champion, and WBC World flyweight champion. Furthermore, he is the former Ring Magazine featherweight and super featherweight champion. The Filipino boxing superstar is the first boxer to win seven world titles in seven different weight divisions. In addition, he is the only boxer to win the lineal championship ("the man who beat the man") in four different weight classes." Reasons why Amir Khan is not a superstar: He's not white.
The guys a legitimate world champ. He won an olympic silver medal(and beat the guy who beat him afterwards) AND hes only 22,yet he still gets hate. Id say one thing if was just not admired that much, but he actually gets outright hate form BRITISH fans! It has to be something to do with the fact that hes of Muslim Pakistani descent. If he was white,he'd be hailed as a superstar. He was given a lot of hype because he was an olympic silver medalist at the age of 17! Of course,he was going to be hyped! Basically you've got a world champ,Olympic medalist,a guy who comes across as a nice, quiet guy, getting crap from his own countrymen. Crazy!
some guy on the first page said that in the UK itz true and sure therez probably TRUTH to it as if he waz white and got KO'd maybe he would still be a bigger draw then he is now HOWEVER i think the guy i quoted above hit the nail on the head much more accurately then any TRUTH related to khanz skin colour before he got KOed i waz begining to believe in his potential superstar status as the guyz hand speed and athletism is awesome BUT to be a SUPERSTAR one also needz to have a great chin and without a great or at least solid chin to reach that SUPERSTAR status and i believe when khan got KOed the majority of his fanz realized that he probably waznt going to be the SUPERSTAR that they had hoped he would become. that said he can still make himself into a superstar as hez young and has bucketz of talent but hez going to have to become a superstar first by FIGHTING the STARz and beating them first. it doesnt work the other way around regardless of your skin colour and khan should really man up to this point before he goes off crying that his skin colour is keeping him from being a superstar
Khan is a bit ungrateful to be honest. i live in northern ireland went to uni in england and i have to admit some of the racism is appalling. i remember because i was irish i was put into the international block as they called it. i remember three pakistani guys in the first week complained because no one wanted to live with them. they werent international students they were actually born in england.it was ridiculous i actually know people that hate khan because he is pakistani i honestly do. but on the other hand look at the amount of **** calzaghe gets and hes white.(from british fans too.) i think the reason hes not a superstar is because he isnT ready hes too young and ungrateful hes been on ppv before having anything resembling a huge fight justifying the price
He's not the legitimate world champ, he's a typical Frank Warren over protected hype job who's beat no one of any real worth on his way to a title shot. He at least used to be exciting, now he's dull to protect his shitty chin. So, he's 22? He could be 32 or 12 it doesn't stop him being an overprotected fighter. People said the same thing about Calzaghe and Hatton during their Frank Warren years too, what colour are they? There's a thread on the front page putting Kelly Pavlik down, despite him being the legit middleweight champ who KO'd good fighters to get there, and lost to p4p Bernard Hopkins over twelve rounds. Khan lost in 54 seconds to a nobody. What colour's Pavlik?
Yeah. You be a superstar by beating great fighters. Khan hasnt even fought decent fighters. The guy was put on box office after 18 fights and was destroyed and yet he is still on box office. I dont pay to watch that clown fight. Hes alredy comparing himself to pac which is a joke as pac is an ATG and khan cant even take a solid shot or fight decent opposition.
People loved Bruno. He's someone who just looks like a ****, that's the trouble. Anyway, this is England. People aren't interested in a Muslim, then so what?
That's ridiculous. There's only a few posters here that totally hate him, most give credit where credit is due. Personally I didn't hate him until he said that stupid ****, now I think he's a first rate *******. :deal
It's certainly possible that some racists don't like him because of the color of his skin. That's a shame. But superstar? Point blank...Superstars don't get knocked out in 30 seconds by moderately talented opponents. That's like Michael Jordan going 0-30 in the NBA finals...wouldn't happen. Khan is no superstar. He can play the victim and that's fine, but it doesn't chance the reality of the situation. He's a good fighter. That's all.
Absolutely. Khan is a whiny f@cker with an inflated ego and sense of entitlement. It has nothing to do with skin colour and everything to do with his motor-mouth, padded record and unlikable attitude. Just f@ck off to LA Khan and do us all a favour.
If he were a white fighter in Britain...maybe. The British are much more accepting of losers than Americans are. That's not a knock. I actually think American boxing fans are too hard on their fighters. I mean, when an American loses, especially if he gets knocked out, it often takes hime years to rebuild his career. Khan was fighting for a title in less than a year. If Khan were an American (even a white one) he'd be fighting on untelevised undercards by now.
