Thrilla in Manilla? Lets not get our hopes up - I suspect Kristjansen represents no more of a threat to Khan than a manilla envelope. One that has been signed, sealed & delivered to keep Khan's youngest british world champion quest alive.

Bringing out the old Hatton-Witter excuse. It's a joke.

Suppose it depends whether you think Thaxton is only as good as his last fight.

Win or lose both Thaxton & Romanov should be given some credit for making this fight happen - unlike Khan who seems to prefer to name drop them as opponents and then opt for Kristjansen instead.

Its a big step up for Thaxton but he will still be the british champ even if his euro bid fails.

Really looking forward to this match up. :good

outside from the hatton and magee fights both of which he lost hasnt really fought any one of particular note, so its quite hard to say,
actually it was warren that was doing the name dropping not khan:good and thaxton was given an offer after the earl fight and priced himself out

With respect I think you will find Khan called out Thaxton just before Kristjansen was named as his opponent first time around.

Thaxton has gone to extraordinary lengths to confirm he was never made an official offer by Khan's camp. My view is that they wanted it to look like Thaxton had priced himself out when they withdrew Khan as mandatory challenger. Depends who you believe.

Realistically Thaxton will be up against it. Although he is the underdog it is a good opportunity for him. At least he is prepared to fight someone who is a genuine threat.

Thaxton may not get a Khan pay day but he will get a chance to fight a very good fighter for a very good belt when he fights Romanov.

The differance between Khan and Thaxton is that Thaxton has bollocks.

I am a Khan critic but when Khan v Romanov was prematurely announced I said he was a good opponent - its a shame some Khan fans on this board can't afford Thaxton a bit more credit where its due for taking on Romanov next rather than just commenting on his shortcomings.
