You talk a lot of sense in your post, but aside from Mayweather and Pacquaio (who will probably fight each other at least twice) who offers Khan a bigger payday with less risk than Brook? Thurman? No way (far too much risk)!! Bradley? That is highly doubtful for a couple of reasons. Marquez? No. Porter (the guy Brook beat)? Definitely not!! Rios? No! A Maidana rematch? That is debatable!! Yes, Amir is a marketable name in the US! Because he is never in a dull fight, but he is not king of the WW hill and he never will be. The Brook-Khan fight makes too sense, which is why (typically) we boxing fans will not see it until it is five years overdue (if at all).
It's not the payday becoz a brook fight by all accounts makes more money it's the exposure plus losing to floyd/pac won't end his career losing to brook will.
it's a fight I want to see, brook seems like the real deal to me and I would love to see him in the mix with the top names. It's a fight I agree won't happen anytime soon. Also I don't think khan is doing it for the big payday. He's got money, khans been on this fighting mayweather mission for years. He's at a point where at least he believes it can happen. Brook doesn't seem to be in khans equation for his path to mayweather or even Pacquiao.
You aren't into WW boxing in a sickening way, if you do not know enough about the current IBF Champion to consider him in a match up with the top five WWs..but that is no surprise, since Brook is probably number 5 and he can't fight himself. Name five "bigger name" WWs than Brook (aside from Mayweather and Pacquaio, who are never going to fight Khan, simply because they will probably end up fighting each other at least twice, then retire). Thurman? Very possibly, though his biggest wins are against old man Bundu and Guerrero, who is basically a blown up Super Featherweight (no knock on Thurman he could be great, I just consider him a rather unknown quantity at present). Marquez? Yes! But he is 41 for goodness sake. Bradley? Possibly, though that is very debatable ( taking his draw with Chaves into consideration).
:good Well said!!! Like I said though, I believe that Manny and Mayweather will fight each other at least twice and then retire, so Amir is never getting a fight with either! Kell is the real deal, and to be honest, he should just ignore Khan and look for the bigger fights..but Fast Eddie Hearn sees Brook-Khan as a massive ppv fight (in the UK) that would do okay in the states and bring a decent amount at the gate (Wembley). But you also have to take into consideration the fact that Kell Brook genuinely hates Amir Khan!! He despises him!! And he would love to fight Amir more than any other fighter on Earth.
Khan will continue to run from this challenge until he runs into another left hook. Then he will be begging "The Special One" for another chance at greatness.
my observation, brook is slow and that lazy jab of his will get easily countered against better fighters.
