I was never a boxer but I thought I would not have been dropped in the same way as Khan did with those two Prescott punches. I mean you can't be a pro boxer if you cannot take two decent punches from the opponent who doesn't have much physical adavantages over you.

Amateur skills mean nothing in the pro ranks and Khan was not taught the basics of pro boxing during the last 4 years at all. Now, instead of blaming one or the other, he should dump his family, blings and even his religion and quietly head for America to learn from basics. Get a decent trainer and train hard all day, trade punches with fellow trainees and fight every 2/3 months. Forget the title dream for 3,4 years and focus on boxing. Rather leave Bolton for Barranquilla and learn it the rough way as Prescott did.

That is the only way he could achieve something worthy to remember about his Pro career.

He should have done that after the Olympics, then when his contract with Warren ended. Its his asian upbringing to blame. The asian culture isnt conducive to producing the competetive steel needed for success. That molly coddling by family causes that mental weakness.
I don't see his religion as being a factor - it's the same religion as Bernard Hopkins!

This is rhetoric nonsense. khan was turned into a millionaire when he came back from the Olympics. Where is the hunger when your already a millionaire? The same thing happend to Audley. Not one lesson has been learnt from him. Cookie has been boxing since we was in school. His finally in a position to be financially secure. Look at his hunger in comparison to Khan. Khan doesnt have no hugner. He doesnt need it. The kid is already well off. Compound that with his glass chin and you have a recipe for disaster.

Religion isn't a major factor - to be honest I would expect that as a Muslim he would 'live the life' more than the likes of Ricky Hatton, Roberto Duran etc etc.

Asians are often brought up in large, close families, which can either be of help or hindrance - but so are whites, blacks, Mexicans, Americans and Brits. The key is the influence that they have - Ricky Hatton is part of a close family which until the past three months has been helpful, whilst others follow opposite paths.

I personally think that there are far too many flunkies wanting their share of the pie, in a similar way to Riath Hamed was with Naz.

    :deal

    Perfect post :good

Making superstars out of people doesn't serve anything. Amateur and pro boxing are so different these days it is almost untrue.

i dont think anyone can doubt khans hunger.

he does need to get rid of the family and hangers on though. sometimes all the scientific stuff he does can backfire, make him soft.

Have to agree with Homer Simpson right here.

Everything looks easy on the TV.

    They make it look easy.

Trying going to the gym and watch real pro fighters training - then you would not be so sure of yourself - judging things by the telly is very misleading.

I wouldn't even want to take a jab from a flyweight wearing 16oz gloves. If I had to take those punches from Prescott, I would need at least a couple of days of work, and probably a trip to casualty.

I have been going to the gym since years and I know how they train. I said I didn't take boxing seriously, that's it. Tough guys who have been hit not only with punches but also by bottles and rods on their head, brawled and fought all their youth, can withstand those Prescott punches or at least don't fall as badly as Khan did. Khan would not have been shell-shocked had he learnt the rough, painful trade properly. I cannot measure the magnitude of Prescott's power but can safely say that I have been hit harder and still stood firm and walked away.

Khan was shook to the sole of his boots by a JAB. A ****ing JAB! Prescott would have seen this and hence why he went for the kill. Prescott can punch alright but i dont believe his a fearsome puncher. Khan simply made him look good because his chin is really that BAD! I mean at how he collapsed from the left hook? It was as though he was hit by bolt of lightening.

    On what you have seen..........

Where would you rank Prescott alongside current LW's in terms of power?

Cant say as Prescotts not fought anyone of any note. If he can do that against the top guns he`s a dangerous man. But as far im concerned his still an uknown quantity.

Presscot is a bum theres no doubt about that if he was really that much of a phenom he would have already made a name for himself before he KO'd the chinless wonder
