Ok not really But how do you really see this one going? Be truthful to yourself. This content is protected Notable wins: Thaxton This content is protected Notable wins:
cant understand what all the fuss is about romanov, i would admit it is a step up for khan, but i would expect khan to stop him late on to be honest
very true, but why do people have no faith in the lad, his offence skills are clear to see and i think he gets some very unfair criticism, he has a poor chin but he has always shown heart and when being knocked down got up to win, i think he would beat romanov, and probably lose to all the lightweight world champion belt holders at the minute, but i think he will challenge them within 1-2 years
I have 100% faith in his offensive abilities. The kid can't defend himself and has no chin. Heart only takes you so far, especially when you are against live competition such as Romanov. Unless Rubio performs miracles he gets knocked out. Romanov is precise with his work. Technically sound, he's not sloppy, and he'll be in a position to make Khan pay. When he does, you can guarantee Khan hits the canvas
No idea. I was just playing around since we know Khan doesn't take a risk I'm interested in this matchup anyway. It is the logical fight before world title shots.
I suppose anythings possible given that some people seem to think that fighting a puncher will be good for his career by presumably improving the strength of his chin.
I honestly don't know if he can improve it enough. His reactions aren't exactly amazing, and he panics under pressure. The first is just a natural gift that is hard to improve beyond a point, and the second is something you can learn with experience, but ultimately he could struggle in the short term The only thing he can learn to do is keep his hands up more often, which is what they are working on by all accounts. Even if he does improve it, he's never going to be Pernell Whitaker. Which begs the question, when he actually faces a world class fighter and puncher, is he not going to be out on his feet the first decent shot that lands given what we've seen against mediocre opponents?
he vacated. thaxton is fighting for the vacant euro title. as for the question, romanov is a level or three higher than anyone khan has faced. i think it would be competitive for the first 4 rounds and khan would look good at times, but the patience and accuracy of romanov would see khan in trouble in the latter half of the fight and probably stopped. khans best chance would be to get a (disputed) tko in the first few rounds. unless as you say rubio performas a miracle.
I honestly think that this is a difficult one to call. I don't think that Khan could hold on for a points win so his only chance would be with a stoppage...a flip of the coin says Khan mid rounds TKO.
We don't know how much Khan's defensive skills have improved with Rubio but based on Khan's previous performances I think Romanov would win but it'd be close. I think Khan might find success early on and maybe even drop Romanov. I could see Khan being ahead after 4 or 5 rounds but I think then Romanov would start winning the majority of the rounds after adjusting to Khan's hand speed. Romanov would take clear control of the fight by the 8th which would cause Cuban George to lose his rag in the corner. I think Romanov stops Khan late or a takes a clear points win. At the post-fight conference Frank Warren would announce the schedule for 'Khan:The Comeback' where Khan would tour the country and form his own 'Bum of the Month club.'
i think your probably right, but one things for sure any top fight that involves khan will be exciting because there are guarenteed knockdowns in my opinion, and maybe, just maybe, khan has enough offence to knock his opponent out before he gets knocked out?
I'm convinced Rubio has been doing a lot of defensive work with Khan, otherwise I don't see why they would put him in with a guy who can punch like Prescott, particularly straight after the Gomez fight. You have to remember Romanov got decisioned by Graham Earl. I think Khan can take him if he boxes smartly and cautiously. I'd take Khan TKO9.
