Yes Earl got the decision - some also feel he got Romanov at the right time as he hadn't fought for approx 15 months.

I believe that fight took a lot out of Earl - never really looked the same fighter to me after that.

This one is a tough fight

If Khan wins its could be either by pts or KO

But If Romanov wins i think it can only be via KO

so i will favour Khan to win, but it would be a very tough fight.

still lightweight champs would own him. atm

Who says Prescott can punch ?

Romanov is several levels above Khan and would disect him, outboxing him before stopping him. He's a World class fighter and those that know the circumstances of the Earl fight normally agree with that. Romanov had a very long lay off and was very rusty. He got stronger as the fight went on as he 'sharpened up' and towards the end was battering Earl, nearly stopping him in the 9th and had him constantly reeling from right hands, Earl doing just enough to survive.

In the end Earl lasted the distance and on the referees card had taken too many early rounds and won the fight. I had Romanov winning but it was close. Romanov has come on as a fighter since then anyway.

For anyone that wants to make the comparrison beaten Kristjansen and Romanov, well they're about as similar as Bobby Vanzie and Khan.

Anyway, too tight a defence, too good footwork, too good a jab, too accurate, too powerful, too much for a young untested fighter with a vulnerable chin.

Juan Carlos Merlero Diaz fights Thaxton for the vacant title btw.

Sounds like you actually saw that fight as well. I would say most, if not all of the people that claim "Romanov is rubbish coz Earl beat him" never saw the fight, and are just jumping to foolish conclusions.

Once Romanov had shaken off his ring rust he started to land punches that would have Khan flat on his back looking at stars. Getting dragged into deep water by Limond and Gomez is a good indicator of how Romanov is different league.

Romanovs wins over Murray and Vanzie are both far more impressive then the Thaxton victory. Romanov would be a stiff test for anyone not elite. As for the Earl loss.... Earl was a very good fighter and is massively under-rated since Khan caught him cold - and shot.
