**** it, to be honest, if was Khan, i would be avoiding a banger like Maidana too. He knows his chin aint stellar so why not fight a creditable, worthy, KNOWN, oppo who cant punch rather than a relitively unknown banger who is a KO specialist? Makes sense to me....

Because he is meant to be a champ!!! A champion is meant to be the best, can beat all comers and defend anytime anyplace anywhere. Could you imaging Man Utd playing in the champions league and drawing Barcelona and saying **** that, theyre too strong and can beat us, lets just cancel the league and play for another cup, talk sense...

In fairness Warren matches (or has started to at least) his fighters far better than Maloney and Hennessy put together.

From what you hear in the press and from ex-Warren fighters, he has a large ego, and most likely wouldn't want to enter into a co-promotional agreement with GBP or Top Rank.

Amir wants to fight in America, if that isn't the way Warren sees his future, then a parting of the ways is inevitable.

As mentioned on the other thread, I hope Warren takes it properly rather than resorting to the usual mud-slinging in his propaganga column.

Boxings a business khan has to make a name 4 himself. As someone's already said Khan's no-one in the U.S. Fighting Paulie will help with that. No-one's heard of Maidana. Most people agree Malignaggi's better.
You say he's meant 2 be a champ but he's got to think about his career in the long run. Fighting bigger names will help him get bigger fights in future therefore having a better career.

Bull****, he's already made enough cash to live on for the rest of his career, Being a champ is the pinnacle of any sport. Kotelnik gave khan a chance when he knew he would most likely lose. Khan should give maidana that chance.

come on mate, it happens all the time, every champ picks and chooses, he is only young, still learning and it aint like Malignaggi is that soft an option, he is coming off a superb win over diaz and has plenty of skills

Khan is better off making his debut in America in March, then fight Hatton at the end of May. Khan will beat Hatton up I reckon and it will be a bitter pill to swallow for all his fans for him to go out like that, but hey! that's boxing.

I think Khan would take Malignaggi apart and wouldn't be that great of a fight to watch (apart from the bit about Malignaggi being taken apart of course.;))

Read the bit u highlighted. I never mentioned money. The superstars aren't gonna fight some nobody. Khan has to build some recognition by fighting people that people have actually heard of.

Dont get me wrong mate, your point is very much valid. But as you say it happens all the time. This is one of the main reasons boxing is in such dire straights. Khan should have to pay his total next fight gains to maidana if he chooses to vacate. Poor ******* was thinking he was in for a payday, then khan doesn't fancy it. I am literally sick of all this cowardice and politics in boxing. Maidana earned his chance before khan (with warrens £££) muscled his way to a shot against kotelnik, he then beats ortiz to gain interim status, it would be a crying shame for him not to get his chance...

    Well said.

Maidana has earned his chance, Khan didnt yet he is the champ.

Give Maidana the chance he deserves.

Plus i cant see how Khan would be able to hold his head high when he knows deep down that he actively avoided a fellow professional.

look at it this way. If Maidana deserves it he'll make money through his career. Plus he can be known as the other guy Khan ducked. Plus Khan's leaving a title he can go get.

What is the beauty of the fa cup???
The beauty is that any team from some low rent town can work their way to a shot at the big guns and win the cup. They earn some cash on the way and then get a chance at some silverware they would most likely never get the chance of getting ever again. The small teams work their bollocks off in hope they advance.

Maidan has worked his socks off, he had got to the final and he can feel his chance and wants to grab that chance with both hands. Except the coward holding the cup doesn't fancy playing such a small unknown team, the fact maidana has EARNED that chance, means he should get the shot. If not Khan should be vilified...

Maidana will get his reward (belt) and Khan will be vilified.

Maidana got his title shot vs Kotelnik lost on SD.

What makes people think Khan dont want to fight Maidana? its Golden Boy who will pick his opponents now. Maybe they dont want their new product on the back foot countering all night, maybe the Paulie fight is a better looking debut in the U.S.

We dont even know if he will vacate, purse bids are tomorrow lets see what happens with Maidana.

If Khan want's to fight in the States he won't be fighting Maidana that's for sure. It doesn't sell anywhere but the UK. A Paulie fight would make more sense over here too.
